Hello-

I mentioned this in another thread but rather than hijacking it, I figure I'll ask the question with a new thread so here goes.....

I am usually hurried in setup before we go on and frequently forget the trem bar on my Silhouette Special. Thanks to the EBMM vintage trem, I have really learned to appreciate that handle thing that overhangs at the end. It's just enough to get your fingers underneath and work the trem from there.

Am I weird or does anybody else do this?

Was this the intent of the design?

here's a picture in case I am not explaining myself well enough:

Matty,

That's a cool little technique, I have no idea if that was a reason that affected the overall design but it looks awesome and is perfect when you want just a little wiggle.

I've done that live. I only wanted to strum an ending chord in a phrase and get a little -out-of-tone- dip on the axis and it works very well. I used my floyd equipped guitar once and felt like my fingers were going to be eaten by mechanical eating machines.

you know i may be completly wrong here but it seems the design would suit those who like the tail of a floyd rose and are used to resting there palm there. call me carzy but compare the two. seems like comfy place to rest your palm just like the floyd. thats why i have a hard time playing a non floyd guitar. feels odd with your palm not resting on some metal.

I thought that would be an issue with me as well. I played strictly Floyd-equipped guitars for years and then switched to a hardtail Morse. As soon as I played the Morse, my worries disappeared....:D

Yes, that's exactly how I do it. Works great!

LOL

I like the lip a lot, even though I've got the trem pretty well locked with 5 springs. I do sometimes anchor my heel of hand there.

don't know why it was designed like that, but I don't keep the trem bar in and use that "lip" to get some wiggle or dip from time to time. I'm assuming it was designed for comfort.
