CRACK IN THE FINISH BETWEEN THE PICK-UPS (DOESN'T SHOW UP IN THE PICS, BUT IT'S THERE)

And he thinks he'll get at *least* $1,000 for that?

I want some of what he's smoking... What an idiot.

Believe it or not, many dealers part out their damaged or slow-selling stock and make more off the bits and pieces than if they tried to sell the whole guitar....it's the musician's version of the auto scrapyard mentality.

ER takes it up a notch by getting his guitars on the cheap (like all dealers do, either by underpriced tradeins, pawnshops, eBay, etc.), then putting his or someone else's CNC to work and slapping pieces together and calling the result a custom job...the musician's version of the auto hot-rodder mentality.

Of course, that's soured by the combination of his twisted vision, prices, and snakeoil salesman hucksterism...the silly leprechaun!

I agree with all that's been said. I just bet he's placing value in the signature and thinking someone will pay extra for that...

As a Petrucci owner, I look at what this slapnut does and wonder how he stays in business. I simply believe he does one thing very well...that is sell. He must be doing something right (obviously to us, not) to remain in business as long as he has. I guess he gets some poor sucker in his shop looking for a decent guitar and talks him into his "frankenpart" guitar. It's like someone telling you they have a lamborghini but fail to mention the lawn mower engine in it. Can EB do anything besides revoke their license from him? Probably not. This is unfortunate to the new consumer, those being the first time buyer who doesn't know any better. If you are passionate about your playing, I believe we all are here, and make a deal with the devil, you get what you pay for I guess.

He should be dragged over a mile of broken glass tied to the back end of my car though...:D

I don't know how many of you frequent the John Petrucci forum, I know OrangeChannel hangs out there and he's probably seen this, but check this out...

Actually quite a few of us hang out of there, that's why I posted the link here and over there about the parted out JP when I saw it.

Imagine my horror, surfubg Ebay minding my own business looking for a JP7 and I stumbled over this... corpse.:(

I wholeheartedly disagree with ER's selling technique which seems to be, "I'm great and everything I sell is great, everyone else stinks!". Because of this I wouldnl't buy anything from him and wouldn't even walk across the street to shake his hand.

To me what makes him sound like a fraud more than anything is the way he'll slam a guitar from Brand X. He'll say that the wood is terrible, Home Depot grade wood. The hardware is garbage. It was cut with a CNC so clearly it's garbage. BUT if you send the guitar into him and pay him $$$, he'll do a special ER mod to it that will suddenly make the guitar decent.

Wait!!! Didn't he just say the wood was no good and since it was cut on a CNC it was crap??? Anyone can replace hardware. So what magic is he applying to this aweful guitar that isn't something a 15 year old with a screwdriver couldn't do???

I'll just say that if he is lagit and honest, he does a horrible job of conveying this to the public. Almost his entire presentation to me reeks of "shyster".

This all just seems so obvious to me. I really can't believe he does such good business.

I read where the dude who had that Pet made by (Dr)Ed Roman has like 7 more Pets and wanted something different. I looked at the pic of the guitar, looks ok, could have had better quilt and what not. The owner said he didn't know there were pics of it out either! So, like I said before, you dance with the bull you will get the horn eventually.

As for putting other manufacturer's down, he did that to a friend of mine who builts probably the best handmade guitars ever. I know that claim can and will be disputed, but I know the man and he is honest and all his guitars are built by hand. Truly magnificent guitars. He dealt with Ed to sell his guitars and ED even claimed they were the best on the planet. (At least he was smart once in his life....;) ). Now my friend pulls his license from him because of the shady things going on there and now Ed claims my buddies guitars suck. Yeah....ok.

By the way, I have seen pictures of Ed building guitars using CNC technology. I guess when you put the wood on the machine and held it in your hand you can technically call that "hand built"....what a jack@ss!

If that's who I think it is (the buddy luthier of yours) I can vouch for Koog, that dude builds up some tasty pieces. The Clutch dudes like them.

As an aside:
Yeah I hang in the Petrucci forum to correct the ills of the posters over there. There are some cats in that jammy that are sooooooooooo clueless as to how gear functions and what applications to use it in.

Ed's entire business is built off a cock and bull story and copying other people's intellectual and physical property. I remember a few years back going to the Classic American Guitar show and Ed had lefty PRS's there, only PRS didn't make lefty's at the time. Man he got himself in a tub of hotwater on that one. Even the guitars built under the Roman name are copped from something else from little things like neck joints and whatnot.
