what effect pedals do yall recomend for tone shapening. I have a hartke bass attack, it really has a good effect on the tone, but not that durable, just temperature changes broke off the knobs. I want something thats punchy and can help get rid of my low in. 15 inch cab puts out a lot of low end...
thanx

For getting rid of that 15ins speaker fart sounds I swapped mine for a 4x10 cab and got a really tight sounds now.
I only use colour effects...

Temperature changes?

I also use a Hartke Bass Attack, mostly because when I play at a friends home it's easier to take "my sound" with me - we all generally play direct through his PA to keep things simple and it's easier this way.

I love the Hartke "shape" circuit - that's my sound. :)

+1

4x10 gives great punch. 4x10 sitting on top of a 1x15 = dream rig!

I still prefer the sound of a 2x15 cabinet and a 1x18 simultaneously. I like the smell of crumbling mortar. ;)

Thats a nice effect if you can manage it - mind you most of the pre-19th century pubs out here tend no to like that one. They wince even at the Boss overdrive pedal....

By the way - who makes the mortar crumbling pedal then...

the only time i used effects was in my last band's demo. during the intro our guitarist played some crazy high pitched crap that i wanted to drown out :) i did have a bass groove going but it wasnt enough so i busted out some distortion and flange and wah and did a 1 take overlay. its cool hearing 2 bass parts on top of eachother. you can check it out in the begining of this mp3: http://www.phatduckk.com/music/demo/Let the Fools Die.mp3

well dee
the hartke bass attack is more of a tone shapener. it makes my cab sound really nice, its also a pre amp, so if u want to add some boost at a certain point of the song u can. or atleast thats what i use it for.

Robert Keeley compressor pedal. It made the Peavey 115 imposter I use in church sound like and think that it is a real amp.
