I'd have to give you more than one to catch up, this is my 15th Petrucci.

That's some stuff there. I was joking, really a nice collection tho', I turned your pics into wall paper. You keep em all tuned standard? Or do you have them setup differently?

gorgeous guitar ernie...

Man, how do you ever decide which one to play? Walk into the room with your eyes closed and grab a case at random? ;)

Sad to say, almost all of my Petrucci's spend all of the time in their cases. I only play 5 of them, the rest are for my collection. I think it would be foolish to play the others and subject them to possible abuse. I have a pearl redburst that I do most of my playing. I practice about 5-6 hours a day on it, so it takes all the wear and tear.
About tuning: I have a sapphire black tuned to C, a mystic dream tuned to D, an orange quilt axis in dropped D. These are the guitars I use when I wanna play in the alternate tunings.

I'm acutely aware brah. hehehehe. :D The 'C' riffs on that new album are bomb. I can't wait to lose my car payment so I can get some more Pets. Actually methnks a Sapphire Black Silo is the next piece but I need to sell a 4x12 so I can drop a deposit at my buddy's shop. It should be a bit easier to facilitate some wacky drop tunings due to the lack of a floating bridge. If i get it you can be sure I end up with a JP like electronics setup switching wise.

Thank you! I'm really thinking about dumping alot of my other axes to build the ultimate Petrucci collection. I would need about 9 more Pet's.

Ultimate? Compared to whom? I think you probably have more than John himself, now... ;)

Considering John tours with about 10 guitars...heheehe. It doesn't appear that he keeps the proto's much since ernie has nce of them and from time to time they pop up on ebay. Plus he sold off all his Ibanez axes.

I think it's funny how some guys get free shtuff from endorsement deals and end up selling it on Ebay. What's better is when they get caught by the company (ahem...Paul Stanley).

Geeze... Paul "I play Silvertone 'cause it's the best!" Stanley? That guy is the ultimate endorsement whore... And who does his face lifts? The guy's eyebrows are where his hairline used to be ferkrystsake!

I know that John personally sold all of his Ibanez electric guitars on his website, but the EB prototype was originally sold on eBay by one of his techs, I think it was the guy wold builds his rigs, Mark Snyder. At the time the same guy sold one of John's Ibanez acoustics. I'm guessing that John gave these guitars away.
I definately know why John didn't keep the prototype I have. It was one of the very first and the neck sucks compared to the production EBMM JP.

Is that neck bulkier than the production? Have you watched the Live Scenes DVD recently? I chronicled in another thread, the aesthetic differences between the MM's he'd played on there and the current production. Pretty cool to see the evolution. In fact, the Proto you have looks like the main piece he played save for the difference in finish. I'm figuring they must've used a Silo neck for some of the protos since they'd based the originals off the silo...definitely a bit of a difference between the two.

Yep, the neck is chunkier, but not like any of the other EBMM models I have. I would have to say, for lack of a better word, 'squarish.' Also, the radius is flatter. John played this guitar alot of the European leg of the Scenes tour. He also used it for a Clinic in Poland during that tour. There are alot of pics of it in the Dream Theater Fanzine from back then. This prototype is the exact one you see in the "making of John's guitar video" on the MM site.
