Slapped a new set on-Nanowebs, .045 - .130 . Where the hell did my low end go? I don't know what kind of strings were on it (I just bought it a couple months ago), but they had a nice, balanced sound with a deep low end. These Elixirs are very midrangey IMO. Do they take time to break in? I can't help thinking there's a ghost in the machine somewhere, rig-wise. I'm going to plug directly in to my digital multitrack this weekend to see if it's in the bass for sure.

Any of you guys have this experience with these? Anyone want a great deal on a barely used set of Elixirs, and brand new set to go along with em?

I've had a set on for about a month now, and I must admit I did notice a change.

A few tweaks & all is well, so have a play around. I think if you play often, your fingers will thank you. They do feel a little weird on the fingers at first (kind too 'smooth'), but after getting used to them, you'll love them.

Admittedly, I haven't tried the Nanowebs, but when Elixir's first came out, I got a free set to try. Hated them so much I finally gave them away. Tried them on everything I had at the time. Fretless P/J, MIA Jazz, SR4, fretted P. No zip and inarticulate bottom.

Dumb But Not Stupid

probably just me in my adultish, youthful ignorance ...
I just can't wrap my knoggen aroung the notion of putting condoms on my strings ... it all seems a bit too, ... well, sterile, you know ???
I mean, did some bassplunkin' richkid have a delinquent stepfather in the pharmaceutical biz ?
maybe I'm weird but I've had good results extending string life by washing my hands with soap & water before playing
I actually found I liked EB Strings before I purchased my first SR5 ... now my unanswered Q in the string section is looking more to my future playing

Is it good!?! Is it good!?! Oh my gosh yes! I love that thing. She is mos def my #1 bass. I bring it to music school with me almost every day and when I play out she gets most of the playing time. All I can say is that Bongos aren't hype- They frick'n rule. They sound , look, and play great. And with the piezo you get even more sounds to play with. It's nice to know that with all the changing variables of playing out that I have atleast 1 constant and that is my Bongo bass. It's always on.
