The saying was originally, "That top sucks." It was some idiot that we'd banned 40 or so times but being as nice as pie, we kept letting him back in because he was just so damned sad about being banned.
I think it might have been the initial run of BFR guitars that caused him to say "That top sucks." There were hi-res photos of the guitar right in the thread and everyone could see how much the top clearly did not suck.
Instead of making an issue of how dumb it was, we all kind of took to saying that about every pretty new thing.
Sterling even had shirts made for one of the parties. Ah, the good old days.
