I'v recently removed original Dimarzio pup's on my Silhouette (HSH) and put an EMG's 81 & 85,and SAV! So, on a clean chanell of my Peavey there is zero hum or noise in any pos.of the switch .BUT ,on high gain chanell the show begins!
This is not a loooot of noise ,but it is a quite! On the other side ,when I plug my Ibanez ,with the mentioned Dimarzio PAF PRO's that was previously on MM, absolute silence until I hit the strings!
I'm confused . I've checked the wirings, because it was made by a expert , looking on wiring diagram provided by EMG, everything looks OK.BUT ,whe I remove strings and move pickguard towards the bridge, while jack pluged in and amp on high gain, noise stops , and moving bridge towards neck --STOPS!
Am I crazy!Help!

Hello and welcome

Perhaps, you should ask your question on the EMG forum ...
Some guys here are very good tech so they will be able to help you but the problem definitely does not come from the Silhouette (it was working perfectly with the DiMarzio).

EMG on Silhouette

My initial mistake was that I've always used some kind of Noise Supp.,or gate on multieffect processor, and didn't notice the problem at first, but I recently serviced my Peavey and said to myself: Hey,I actualy never have heard how MM sound on pure amp gain.Let's see!!!!
Well,thanks mate,I 'll dig further!

i'd take it back to the tech and let them diagnose the problem... sounds like something isn't quite right with the wire job... could be very simple or grounding out or who knows...

I'm not entirely understanding the symptom, but you're saying things change when you remove the pickguard and move things around? That suggests that you have a wiring issue, something is intermittently connected, perhaps a bad solder joint or a ground issue.

Really, you'd have to be in front of the guitar to diagnose the problem, there's no way to do it from here. I'd suggest contacting EMG or your tech.

Thanks ! About moving pickguard arround: when I move it BEHIND the bridge ,noise stops .I rise it verticaly, as wires aloud to ,so the bottom of pickguard is looking at neck direction and knobs at my belly...got it? Anyway I'm gonna rewire it !

So you're just picking up more noise as you move it? Well, EMGs are not totally silent. The ones I've had have always been noisy. So that may just the nature of things and you're picking up different RF as you move it around.

Either way ... really not much we can do from here!

EMG noise

I forget to mention that only small correction with level and treshold on Boss Noise Supp. is enough to solve the problem, but I want it to be noiseless without help.

no pickup is noiseless. get a power conditioner to take the irregularities from the current (which is prolly it). i get noise at home (thru laptop) but in my practice joint, with amp gained and roaring, they're dead quiet.

(hint: try taking your amp somewhere else, like a buddy's home. if it's quieter, it might be electrical. btw, what kind of peavey are we talking about?)

In the meantime,I'll fell free to post some audio clips from YT.It's a KSE & Breaking Benjamin covers that I recorded in studio with my band. This is the sound of Silhouette with those EMG's,bass is some Ibanez ,played by my younger bro and the drumm is Ayotte custom played by my youngest(14 yo) bro.Vocal is ,well, not appropriate fothis kind of music. We just try if we can reproduce the sound and a production o the original.

I do not know those songs but you guys sound good, and your little brother can really hit those skins lol. How old are you? Keep up the nice work and I would like to hear you guys do an original, though I am not into the cookie monster vocal bits.
