For the past few days, I've been playing my Luke for the first time in about six months...and I'm falling in love with those EMGs all over again. Yum!

On a side note, it seems to me that the EMG 85 by the bridge sounds more like a LP than does the bridge humbucker in my Axis SS. For any of you who have ever played the two side by side, did you ever get more of a LP vibe from the Luke than the Axis (or EVH)?

I wouldn't say that the sound of either my Luke or Axis makes me think 'Les Paul' exactly, but the Luke has a higher output due to the active pups and more low end bass response, so I guess the vibe could be more LP-like depending on your amp settings.

I just love them both for their individual tones

But all that time with the Axis SS is making me wish my Luke had an EMG 89 by the neck instead of the single coil.

To clarify, it's not that I get a Les Paul vibe, but it's just that the Axis, being a dual humbucker axe, might make people think "Oh, it will sound like a Les Paul", and as I was playing the Luke, I was thinking that it sounded more like the LP than does the Axis.

Not that sounding like a Les Paul is some holy grail or anything.

And ya! They are both kick ass guitars that sound absolutely fantastic!
