I used to own this one. Silo Special with an 85 in the bridge, an SA in the middle, and an S at the neck position. Sounded really good. I thought the single coils were so clean that they were almost sterile. The SA had a really nice, classic strat tone.

Norm, nice as always, John the new Sterling by Musicman is the way to go on this one, might try it done the road myself, had a Schecter before i found MM and put a set of Zakk Wylde EMG's in it pretty simple, the David Gilmour set is cool.

All The SiLOs are (Bridge to Neck) 85 SA 89
The 89 is a split coil
The active coil is under the logo
I wanted the active coil in a different position. That's why some of the pups look upside down.

D'oh!! Didn't see that.

I've been wanting to try an 89 in the bridge. A guy on the Duncan board has one in the bridge in a Stinnett Custom guitar and it sounds killer. I like the 85 in the bridge and the 60A in the neck most. Don't dig the 81 very much.

I've got a set of AHB-1 Duncan Blackouts in my Axis and I like 'em a lot, especially the neck pickup.

On a slightly related topic, I'm almost set on putting a pair of D Activators in my Silo. I would have to get a custom HH pickguard and a superswitch to wire them ala ASS.

If you want a more stratty active sound I'd consider the Seymour Duncan Livewire Classic for Strat II set instead of the SAs. They run on 9v so you should be able to wire the fancy EMG tone controls to them too. Some people over on te SD forums claim they're even strattier than all the stacked humbucker designs.
