ok i got a DOD extreme envelope filter a while ago and it works fine with my schecter but if i plug my stingray into it, it doesnt have the normal envelope filter sound, its a lot more muted and just kinda mmmmmuuuaaaaaaaaaa, in stead of the normal quick little quackin kinda sound, i dunno how to describe the sound sorry if its confusing. anyone know why its like that or how to change it? or does this mean i should just save up for a Q-tron or somethin more fancy? thanks for the help

there as another envelope filter thread a day or 2 ago...

I think it was Dargin that mentioned that sometimes pedals dont perform as well with active electronics (dunno if your other bass is active or not). do a search and see if what Dargin suggested applies to your situation

good luck

I have a DOD envelope filter... not the same model, but I suspect yours has the same issues as mine. The electronics in a Stingray can just overwhelm them. Try turning the volume down on your bass and keeping the eq at the centre detente.

a lotta times if you use a compressor in front of a filter or ocatve divider you'll have better results. If you ever find an old Boss FT-2 grab it-I don't think you'll be dissappointed.

BORRRRRRIIINNNNGGGGG!

You will note that I have never claimed to be a terribly exciting bassist.

In fact, I am inordinately proud of my pedestrian/worker bee style*!

Jack you are plumb exciting as a bass player compared to me. :)

Is an Envelope filter something that blocks anything but root notes?

i agree guys,i like a nice clean punchy sound, however my fellow bandmates like to finish a set with Motorhead's Ace of Spades, so i had to buy a cheap overdrive (Danelectro £19.95 :D ) just for this one song & i must admit it is fun making such a din every now & then.
