ernie ball music man gig bag question

Hi

Please is anyone able to help - I need to take my guitar to NZ but I only have the ebmm hard case for my guitar, and if I have the gig bag I can take it in the cabin on the plane. I've called the UK distributor and they don't have any of the gig bags in stock, and I need it quite quickly. I specifically want the ebmm one because I had one before and it holds the guitar beautifully with plenty of protection.

Does anybody know who makes the actual bag ebmm use and what model number it is? so i could get one of those. The Gibson gig bag looks very similar in pictures, is this the same bag, just with a different logo on it?

Alternatively if anyone in London England has the ebmm gig bag in a nice condition and wants to do a direct swap for an ebmm hard case in good condition I would be happy to do that.

I have a couple of Gibson bags, they're bigger than the EBMM one.

The Line 6 gig bag fits a EBMM guitar very well, and they are very well padded and are only £30 or so. Having done 3 or so trips to the USA this year, you really will struggle getting your guitar as hand luggage on the plane. As far as I know, you can only take one piece of cabin baggage - this is what I found online:

It seems that the main restriction seems to be the size. I gave up trying to get guitars as cabin baggage long ago. I would check it in if I was you.

Did you try carrying your guitar onboard in a gigbag and they stopped you , or did you assume they would and not risk it?

I called the airline at heathrow today and they said that there are separate rules for musical instruments and you're allowed your one bag carry on, plus an instrument in the cabin (as long as it's not a double bass or something like that).

I haven't tried internationally, but when I flew out to Palm Springs for the forum bash I brought along my BFR Luke. I had it in the EBMM gig bag and was able to get it on without any problems. It fit perfectly in the overhead compartment, even on the little plane from Phoenix to Palm Springs.

The only question I was asked was about the trem arm that I took off and had in the side compartment of the bag.

The gig bags are the perfect size for travelling. If you can find one go for it.

To be honest, I havent tried. Its just I have seen the airlines (well United who I normally fly with) be very strict on the size of carry on baggage. I didnt realise there was any special rules for musical intruments.
