yeah i know, but you *know* you are playing a guitar, not a bass...does a guitar really need to say 'guitar' on it?
Still, they need to distinguish between the two...like if you order a Sub1, and some nincanpoop orders a Sub1 Bass...just think how you would react on the day you get it in the mail!

Hmm....maybe it's my eyes, but from looking at the MusicMan site, there's the "SUB" and a "SUB Sterling" basses, and a "SUB1" guitar. There's no numeric nomenclature for the bass models.

Seems pretty simple to me!

Maybe it is to let the bonehead salesman know what it is he is trying to sell....hehehehe.....I put it in the same category as owning a car....say....a corvette....and having that goofy "Corvette" sticker across the front window....it's like..."no S**t you moron, I know it's a 'vette." Or, maybe the owner has short term memory loss and can't remeber he is a guitar player.......I know I forget that I play guitar.......or is it me just getting older?!?!??!?!

Well, it is kinda like if it was a Corvette, and after the word 'Corvette' it says 'automobile'. Model names make sense. Naming what the object is doesn't.

Sorry for the double post but since we are on the SUB1 SUBject :D , I just realized something that I never noticed before...why are the SUB's labelled as simply MUSICMAN, while everything else is labelled ERNIE BALL MUSICMAN?

Good questioin Raz.....never noticed that before.

OC....you are always good for seeing things from a different angle.....that's what I love about ya!

A JP a ferrari? I would have to say no. A JP is more along the lines of a Saleen S-7. Still exotic, yet not really known.

We, as EBMM customers, are in a cool little fraternity. Not many know about us, which makes it even better to be us. People think F**der and Gibby are the only guys in town. Well, take those "guys" out, my guitars are sexy like my wife. I take them and her (my wife) over those "guys" anytime! heheheheheeh,.......it is soo cool to be us...... :D

Strat Master, I'm in the same boat (kind of). It's so hard to spend what little money I have on a guitar I can't try out with my own equipment. It's scary! There are only 3 sub1 reviews on Harmony-Central. Even though they are all rave reviews, it still makes me nervous. There are many, many reviews of other guitars like Ibanez on there. I've had the chance to play a lot of Ibanez guitars, too. So many choices! I'm a little "unconventional" so I actually like the thought of being one of only a few people playing an instrument. I'm so close to pulling the trigger on a sweet sub1 right now, but I'm not positive  I want a guitar to play fast, be good for tapping (I'm trying to learn right now), sound great for metal, but still be easy to bend for when I plays blues! That's a lot to ask-but I'm too poor to have 10 guitars!

Then get the SUB1!...no but seriously I play metal and the blues and it suits me just fine...I may be selling one of my SUB 1's, if you're interested!

That scares me! The biggest fan of the Sub1 on here selling one? Uh-oh! Actually, I have a great deal with someone already arranged, I just need the "Balls" to buy one sight unseen! As I've said before, I'm 32, married, etc. and I don't want to waste what little time I get to myself trying to change strings and set up a Floyd Rose guitar. I want to play! They just seem like too much bother. I like the thought of locking tuners so much!

Another question, did you swap out the pickups, or are they original? I really wouldn't have money to buy new pickups around Christmas.

Oh man you sound just like me when I first when looking...no word of a lie, here's my story. I started playing when I was in my teens, then tragedy struck and my gear got ripped off...I was deeply scarred and I stopped playing for about 15 years...I tried other forms oftherapy, video games, pulling wire, but soon enough my heart began to ache...so this year in September, I decided to go and get a new axe...well I tried every bloody guitar in that shop and nothing caught my fancy..so I settled for an ESP, stoptail...nice axe but when I got home (and this is important) I noticed some buzzing...and I had a feeling something wasn't right. So I took it back, and it had no more room on the truss rod for adjustment, just as I had suspected...so I started looking again, and I got depressed really quickly...and that's when the salesman said he just got in this new guitar, a funny looking fellow it was, and a little more expensive...it was an EBMM SUB 1...he said, and I quote "It has the fastest neck in the store"...so I tried it and damn he was right it was like butter...so I bought it.
Now I'll admit that once I started chatting on these boards I began thinking of getting new pups, but once I got my V-Amp 2.0, I never thought of replacing the pups again. Also I set the action very low on my Subs, and if it buzzes here and there, it's very simple to remedy, a turn of the easily accessible truss rod, and voila!
Also changing strings is like a dream, thread it through, tighten, cut and tune...that's it...do not fret about the trem, its the best of both worlds, its a stop tail-string thru the body-trem...thats how I look at it...Since buying my SUB1, I have purchased a few other guitars, but only because the SUB1 was such a beaut...and the only reason I said I may sell one is that I have purchased another 7 string and it seems that's where my passion lies...and it seems terrible letting those beauts just sit there...but I do make it a point to give them my attention...if you need more advice, ask away bro...but I promise you that for the money, it is the best available, American quality made guitar that I have ever played...it even out plays guitars 1 1/2 times more expensive (I'd say twice as expensive, but i have never tried any of those)

OK Strat(less) Master...well hopefully anyhoo, I just played 4 guitars back to back, as a comparison...all just for you...and before I submit my review, I just want to say...OUCH!
OK so I stated off with my original SUB1...and BTW all 4 guitars were played through a Behringer V-Amp 2.0 and a H&K Warp 7 212., sharing the exact same setting. I then picked up a 2001 Peavey USA Wolfie Special, with Duncan Dimebag PUPS. I then played my 2002 Silo Special and finally I ended with my other SUB1, the one you see in my avatar. As far as action goes, they are all sweet, and if I was to be honest and find a difference, that would be that the SUBs feel a little tighter...but in a good way...and I would bet that was because both are brand new, while the Silo and the Wolfie are both a few years old. As far as sound goes, I couldn't tell...maybe it was because the kids were singing along, or were they screaming? I don't know, but the bridge pups all sounded fairly similar, maybe they Subs had a slight brightness, but nothing that really jumped out.
Finally, and this is very important, or as the French say, Tres Importante, if I was to express some kind of lesson learned from this short experience, it would be that I LOVE MY SUBS, and I wouldn't part with them for anything...there, if you have a pipe, print this page and smoke it! Later! :D
