Ernie Ball Trem

I was having a conversation with a person earlier today and we started talking about the trem on the Petrucci.

We have both used the usual trems that are on guitars. We both stated that the best trem we had ever used was the Ernie Ball.

It is amazing to me that something so good could seem so simple. Maybe I'm missing out on all of the engineering that went into manufacturing it.
But after looking at Floyds, Schallers, Lo Pros and various others, it seems that EB has absolutely hit the nail on the head with their product.

Big Ups to all of the people at EB who make such a fine product.

It truly is cool.
My rule is simple when you buy a guitar you can tell right away. It's either one that will be in tune and stay in tune, or it wont. The won'ts aren't with me any more.
I've owned 3 Petruccis. Bought them all new (ordered). And they have all been PERFECT. No dinkin around tuning them all the time; they just are precision personified in the trem dept.

Clapton is famous for blocking his trems because then keep him out of tune.

Allen wrench free is the way to be.

I have a Jackson with the Floyd Rose trem and i hate it. My friend has a JP and has never had any issues.

The EB Petrucci trem is the only one I have ever used, where I changed the strings on it and went right back where it needed to be.

I always have trouble with it. I really like how it feels and it's a great guitar but Floyd Rose can be a pain. Also, I am not a big whammy bar freak so I hardly use the whammy bar.

There was a big thread on The Gear Page talking about trems and the JP model was a very popular choice for "best trem" out there. I have to agree that I too feel it is probably the best overall design of any I have used; especially considering it comes in a piezo and non-piezo version.

BP, any chance the JP trem is ever an option on other models?

I agree, I have yet to hear one negative comment from the JP trem. I have also read the trem on the JP is one of the favs/best out there.

Actually, there is ONE drawback of the JP trem vs a floydrose. the angle of deflection. To get a serious vibrato, one needs to wiggle the trem wider than an FR. That's a design thing. Can't be helped, and isn't a stumbling block.
