Jack,

I loved the Terry Bozio reference.. I think "Broken Hearts are for A**holes" was the first Zappa tune I ever heard.

By the way.. while it is true that your Bongo is ready, Dargin failed to tell you that it won't ship until February..

Ordered it on October 4th, it was ready to ship on 10 November.....that WAS fast.

I suspect Dargin.....because I was all hot for BP's single H Bongo, remember? And he talked me out of it. "Let me build you one" he said.

Makes you wonder.

But (in spite of the Preferential Pimp Delivery Systerm) we've been getting basses purdy quick, and not just mine. So....what can I tell you?

Act now!

I figured as much. I mean because of my job I can get capacitors overnighted to me anytime I want, thats almost as nice of a perk...right?..right? Heck my fretless only took 2 months. Maybe thats becasue it only has one pickup...

I just want to tell you (my head is filled things to say) that - as some of you know - I ordered a blue pearl Bongo 5 HS a while back, and I received an email today from the infamous Dargin, who says it is ready.

I am still, after all these basses, all the Stingrays and Stingray 5s and Sterlings and, okay, yes, the Bongos.........I am still freaking pumped about this bass.

I just wanted you to know that.

Whoever the hell you are.

Jack

Are they of the "flux" variety? If so, do you get a free delorian thrown in?

Yeah, I literally have access to about a hundred mil caps at the tip of my fingers...think of all the fun that could be had. Jack, I think when this new one comes in we definately need to plan an evening of beer, bass and vodka debauchery.

Oh, not just capacitors, there are inductors, ferrite beads, thermistors, and others to consider. It just gets better and better.

As far as flux capacitors go, I think my boys over in Japan are already on it. Should be any day now...muahahahaha

In keeping with my slut/whore/pimp lifestyle, I have something to admit.

Mister Oldtoe Ben had that single H Bongo 5 in Rolls Burgundy that he was wanting to trade or sell. 'Member? So I made some funny noises at him about trading him something for it because without a single hummer, I can never really satisfy Big Poppa (which is possibly not really my job, but still).

Well.....I liked that white Stingray I just bought, I most surely did. (Note the use of the preterite tense.) And I know I kept saying, "I really need a Stingray around" and so on. And anyway, Ben offed a right nice LTD ED Stingray 4 not that long ago because the neck was too chunky, so I didn't figure he'd really go for any trade.

Well. Lo and behold.

He came over today, played the SR4, liked it a lot, and of course I liked the Bongo, even with the squirrely roundwounds on it because, well, it's a Bongo and I know Bongos.

What could we do?

We went Total Slut and I reckon we're both happy about it. I changed out the white guard to abalone and it looks pretty groovy.

So, for the moment, my Bongo Total is relatively high again.

1. sapphire black 5 HH
2. desert gold 4 HH
3. logan green flame 4 HH
4. envy green 5 HH
5. rolls burgundy 5 H

One of those is off to Sweden soon, but I'm back up to five right now.

the bongos changed my life and stuff,

Jack

I was playing my fretless tonight and I actually felt like I wasn't a hack. Of course the reason for the positive feelings is thing sounds and plays so damn good that it kinda makes me forget that I am a hack. Regardles, its how I get my jollies, and I like it.
