Ever Fly with ur EBMM?

Qucik question, have any of you flown with your geetar? I might have a few gigs coming up that i may need to fly and i'm wondering what's the best way to go about it. Hard vs soft case? Can u take it with u on the plane??? It's kinda scary to leave it to the hands of someone else & i've recently sold all my guitars except for 1 jp and 1 that i have on order. So it's def a scary thought thinking of it not being in my possesion during a flight. Maybe i'll just by a barebone jp for moments like this....hmmmm.

I've flown from the UK to France with mine. I wasn't allowed to take it on-board with me, so I packed the guitar in the case and wrapped it in bubble wrap. I also put a load of t-shirts and the like in there as well, to give it a little extra padding.

It was absolutely fine though, there were a couple of scuffs on the case, but nothing major.

I'm not sure if there are any new regulations concerning taking guitars into the cabin, it might be worth checking with the airline....

If you search, there have been several threads (although none in a while) about flying with guitars. They got fairly extensive and people relayed different experiences with different airlines, plus recomendations for flight cases and other alternatives.

I toured around the states for a few months a few years ago and I was forced to put the guitar under the plane in its case, have them put fragile stickers on it but they will still beat it up, the case will be scuffed up but my guitar survived every time, only one time going from LA to NY there was condensation inside the case when I got to NY but everything worked fine, also the guitar will come out cold sometimes and they say you shouldnt open the case til it warms up but I never listened to that and my guitar has survived and travled all over the US with me -

I once had to put an EB MM SM on a pallet on a C5 military transport. I was worried that it had to sit there for a while in the hot sun before it all got loaded on. But, it was battle ready when it hit the tarmac on the arrival. No problems. I also took the same guitar on a nuclear submarine twice, but I guess that isn’t the type of flying you were talking about!

Guitar on a nuclear sub? This is the best forum ever! Did the guitar survive the neck-breaking surface through the polar ice cap?

Haven't flown with an EBMM, but with both acoustics and electrics international and domestic. Best bet: tell them it's worth $15k and you're taking it into the cabin no matter what! They'll usually let you, there is always room to store it somewhere in the cabin where you can keep an eye on it.

NorM just mentioned that he flew with his EBMM in a gig bag with South West in his 'King 'o the Blues' thread.

I flew with my ASS across the atlantic, it was in it's hard case which I put bubble wrap in to pad it out a bit more, then put the case in a cardboard box. Totally a fluke but the box didn't even have a mark on it when I picked it up at baggage claim.

I flew to Ernie Ball with mine. I bought a Body Glove case that's kind inbetween hard and soft. It worked out really well and fit in the overhead with my JP7 in it.

Plus of course, every single Ball we have here in the UK and presumably the rest of the world, has travelled here in the hold of a plane, in it's case, in a cardboard box, through an uncaring postal/courier system - usually without a hitch!

I have a thing for my cell phone made by body glove. It's kept me from destroying my phone, and that's saying something

I have flown with my guitars to America, Sweden, Jersey and a number of other places. Always in a bog standard hard case, and in the hold. Every time I have been lucky and they have come out just fine. These days you struggle to take a guitar onboard. They only allow one small piece of cabin baggage, which is much smaller than a guitar.
