My guess is that it's not a real x-ray but a composite of many photos but it's still pretty cool!

No, it's a very clever composite of photographs. Among other things, none of the metallic parts should show up looking metallic in an x-ray, they'd be opaque. It's still a very awesome image though!

Well I'm not going to try to answer for the EBMM folks, but it would seem to me that if the truss rod is only going to exit the neck at one end, it needs to be anchored somehow so it can turn and still exert pressure on the neck...

Great photo. It'll be an anchor not a wheel some of the ones I've seen are crescent shaped - can't speak for the EB ones though.
