Just wanted to know if anyone here has a EVH 5150 iii and what they think of it. Im in the market for a new amp and heard mixed reviews on this one. I've read alot of posts from people that said the early batch's had some problems and some people went through 3-4 of them but they loved the tone. Does anyone know if they addressed these issues? Anyone looking to get rid of theres ?

I don't own one but I played one in a store and was very impressed. It's a killer amp. I like it much better and it's more versatile than the PV 5150's, which I never really cared for.

It's absolutely worth your consideration.

I have one. I have been been toying with the idea of selling it, but then everytime I gig with it I change my mind. It is a GREAT amp for the stage, not so great an amp at home. Channel 2 in particular really comes alive when the master is above 3 or so (which on this amp is crushingly loud with a moderate gain setting).

Anyway, if you're gigging a lot, highly recommended. If you're not, probably not so much.

And to keep things on topic, I might add it mates really really well with my y2d : )

I love the sound of those amps. THOUGH, for the money, I'd much rather have an Engl head. The Engl INVADER is simply killer.

I played one on a few occasions, one of my students own the half stack. It definitely has the tone! But i do agree that it's not really a bedroom level amp, the thing needs to pump out a certain amount of volume for those sweet juicy gain. Really usable nice clean channel as well.
I would've gone with this amp if i didn't have a full on amp rig already. But if i find some in the used market with a good price, i would scoop it up.

how are the clean tones?

The green (clean) channel is very very useable. Worlds better than the previous 5150. It has lots of potential to turn into a crunch channel with the gain control, but can remain clean at loud volumes. It puts out real nice sort of blooming cleans. I don't dare say Fender cleans, but a real good basic clean sound.

I always set the clean up for a gig but then never use it. I like to manipulate the guitar to alter the tone so I spend 99% of the time on the middle channel.
