Thanks for the nice comments guys. This is, and always will be, my #1 guitar. You can't see in the photos but there are now worn spots developing around the 2nd to 5th frets where the fret board is now not completely flat. Like what happens on old 50's nitro finish Tele necks that have had a lot of playing. I love it, has a character all it's own, I reckon I could tell mine from a lineup of EVHs blind folded!

Nice little way to show off that wicked looking neck on that EVH Oz lol. Truthfully that is one of the nicest necks I have ever seen on an EVH. I reckon you have owned the guitar from when it was new? Nothing you can do about the wear spots as it shows you played the hell out of it and they do add character.

That almost looks like a roasted neck! Hot stuff. If there's one thing I REALLY like on a maple neck, it's worn spots. Nice one!

Yes I've been the one & only owner of this guitar. Realized early on (after 1st gig actually) that it would be impossible to keep the neck clean, so haven't worried about it ever since. The way it looks now is the result of many years of gigging & recording, lots of blood, sweat & dirt! (No tears!) .
I'm a firm believer that instruments are meant to be played, not put in glass cabinets. ;-) (Though I'm sure not everyone would agree with that).

You're right, IMHO nothing beats the feel of a well played & worn in instrument.

Hey Oz,

I notice your in Melbourne, with what cleaning product did you use to clean the grime of the fretboard, Murphy's is not sold over the counter here, not that i've noticed anyways? Was it sourced in Melbourne?

Thanks,

Thanks,

No product, just a lint free cloth and a bit of 'elbow grease'. The only cleaner I've ever used on any guitar is a bit of Mr Sheen on gloss finishes, or a bit of Lemon Oil on rosewood fretboards.
