What are the differences between the EVH models and the Axis models? Every EVH model has a quilt finish. I've yet to see a axis model with such a viberant EVh quilt finish. Is this done on purpose because Eddy is no longer with music man(law suit issues, ect). Is this by choice by the manufacturers?

thanks

Is this "vibrant" enough for ya? (Just ignore the chunk of missing paint. :) )

The differences between the EVH and the Axis are not substantial, in my opinion. The biggest changes would be the addition of the rear contour for comfort and the tone pot. There was an ever so slight widening of the neck. The pickup selector switch was relocated.

With the Axis Super Sport, there are options for the bridge (Floyd, vintage trem, or stop tail), pickups (humbucker or MM-90, piezo), and fingerboard (maple or rosewood).

its pretty dark. problem I have with a dark color is that you can't realy see the finsih that well. if your on stage, even with lights, it can be a bit dark. It just seems the swirls in EVH paint job have the light and dark mixed in somehow. That allows you to distinguish its color. Even a black EVH, you can see its finish real well. the pattern quilt. I'm not trying to be picky or anything, its just every axis color i've seen(even the quilted ones from the late 90s), don't seem to jump out at you.

I'm not saying its wrong, maybe its the style EBMM was going for. soemthing a little more tame.

I think you're wrong - I just don't have a pic of an amber Axis to show you, but I know others on here who own ones that look as nice as the one you are showing me. I don't know how there could be a difference, unless you're suggesting EBMM changed the staining/finishing process to make the Axis a less attractive guitar than the EVH - that makes a lot of sense.

Plus - that Tobacco smokes that amber! :p Seriously, look at the consistency in the quilt and the tubular nature of it maintains throughout. I mean, if maple tops are you deal, than the Tobacco destroys that amber! :D

yawn......there was no lawsuit....never was never will be....the finishes are the same and the wood has actually gotten better

It sure has gotten better! The non upgrade stuff is better than most "10" tops from other companies. The upgrade tops? I have seen some that rival another guitar maker ( and I am not knocking them, I own one of them) has for their private stock guitars.

Our guitars are always getting better.

PeteDuBaldo quit being a nazi elitist. I'm just asking a question, i'm not knocking EBMM's. I'm going to purchase one any day now.

Not any more, I sold it last week to another forum member. :( At least it went to a good home.

Oh - and that was if you're referring to the honey (which I doubt you are) - the tobacco one was never mine - I wish it was! Now THAT is the most beautiful one I have ever seen too!

Oh you mean your squier quilt top AAAA:D :D , jon??

P.S.: Boys don´t let this thread lead to a who has the longer dXXk thread. We all have some of the best guitars on the market today. I bought my silo by ear and it was not my favorite colour, so?

My 2cts, Mick
