I've got to admit, those tops on your HP's are very nice. Even the two he had in his store were really nice as well. Actually, I've never had a problem with certain Peavey guitars. I really liked the Wolfgangs as well. But since I feel a part of the EBMM family now, I had to defend the family.;)

The funny thing is, he's a guy I've sort of known for about 2 years. A friend of mine works at that particular store so I got to know him as well. I was visiting my buddy and was telling him that I picked up my first Ball(he knows how good MusicMan guitar are)and that's when the other guy offered his two cents and said I should have gone to see him first and he could have set me up with one of the HP specials. That's when I told him where to go. I also told him that I was looking forward to ordering my second ball in the very near future.:D :D

I thinking about getting a second ball also.:)

Or maybe do you prefer FLAMED !!!!!

By the way, its an Axis, with NORMAL top. No upgrades here.
It's more green in person, and very deep impression of flame carved.

FWIW: I'm probably stating the obvious for everyone, but the beauty of the wood has little to do with the tonality. Figured tops sound the same as plain tops.

I like a beautiful flame or quilt as much as the next guy. But sometimes I think the assumption is, the prettier the top, the better the guitar. That's just not the case.

I think a pretty top can indicate a reasonable attention to detail on the part of the builder though. In that form it can indicate something more than appearance. But not always.

Well said. None of the Pets have a quilt or flame top and those are tone machines! Now the proto Big Poppa sent to JP is just stunning. Looks wise. I would have to hear it, but who am I kidding, it is probably a tone monster as well.
