...one thing I noticed....is that somewhere towards the beginning of the interview, he says: I'm all about making things simple. Take my guitar: it has one knob.

It does? Most of the Wolfs I see have 2, especially the one that was in the cover pic with him. Methinks he's having post-EBMM depression.

Yup...thats the cheapest Wolfie that they make too. However... I too have not seen an american made wolfie with one knob either.

The American Made Wolfgang Specials have one volume knob. They look identical to the korean made banger, but are made way better, tho the Korean banger has it's merits especially for the price tag.

about that extra knob....

My brother was out in the US a couple of years back and he bought me back the "Guitar World Presents Van Halen" book, which collects together all the Eddie interviews, up to around about the Best Of/VHIII era.

This is from Guitar World, November 1995 and I quoteth!

GW: Your prototype models have two knobs on them, as opposed to the one-knob setup you used on your Music Man and on guitars you had before that.

EVH: I haven't decided yet whether the final version will have two knobs or not. But if it does, it will be a volume control for each pickup, not a tone and a volume.

GW: Hartley Peavey says he wants you to put a tone control in the guitar because it would make the instrument more versatile .

EVH: Yeah, but you just don't need a f***in' tone control! I told Harvey I would split the difference with him on an extra knob, but it would be a volume control. That way you can execute dynamic changes from pickup to pickup by flipping the toggle switch.

There's a little bit more but its the basic EVH "it's my guitar" flim flam that he put out before copping out on a tone control, heh heh!!!

Thanks to Darrell on this forum I've got pictures of the stage and mp3s of the 3 new tracks, you US based Ballers are gonna have a blast this summer!!!!

B*stards!!!!

I posted this sentiment on the best vh album thread, but that eddie interview was way, way too short considering he's been dormant for so long and the whole thing was set up by his close friend that also happens to WORK for the magazine.

When I take a magazine to the can with me, I like to be so fully engrossed in the article I don't even realize the seat ring forming on my ass:eek:

Wolfgang Specials and Flametop Specials are made in the US and only have a volume knob. They're also flat tops. The guitar EVH is using on tour right now, from what I understand, is a flame top Special with a Fernandez sustainer in the neck position.

OK, I was at the show last night. To start with it ROCKED! It was great seeing Van Halen rocking and having fun again.

Second, the guitar he played was obviously a Wolfgang Custom Shop job. It was a flat top Cherry Burst quilt top, with a Sustainer neck pup and an extra toggle switch added for the Sustainer pup. The neck was full of birdseyes. A nice looking guitar. Ed was able to get a lot of different sounds out of the guitar. That is IF you were sitting somewhere where the guitar wasn't drowned out by the bass and drums.

He played the old 5150 Kramer for Up For Breakfast. Kind of cool to see after all these years. I couldn't tell any great change in tone from the Wolfgang though.

EVH played well for someone who hasn't been onstage in 6 years.
He was moved to tears at least twice during the show. It was an emotional night for the band and they all looked like they had tears in their eyes as they did their final stage bows. Even Mike.
I had a GREAT time. Best big time rock show I've been to since the last time I saw VH live. btw, the new songs sound much better live than the crappy MP3's floating around the internet.

Hopefully, Howard Stern will have them on and we'll get to the bottom of all of this. :)

I was listening the day after Sammy announced he was back in and Stern had a field day with him playing all of Sammy's "I'll never go back..." and "only if I'm broke..." quotes from after the breakup...
