Yes Ed & the Boys are not what they seem. They haven't been since 5150.
There are 2 Chapters from a book the Sammy Hagar was going to put out a while back. Let's just say the book was halted! The 2 chapters have been floating the web for quite a while. They are interesting reading. A word of caution though. If you proceed to read these, it may alter your perception of the band. It gets nasty. There are still copies at www.guitars101.com
The chapters can be found in the "Van Halen sub-forum".

Fogman - I can't find the chapters that you are referencing - do you have a more direct link?

Thanks

Man oh man.

Why has no one mentioned the sunburst EVH EBMM, loaded with what looks to be white EMGs and a stoptail bridge. I've never seen pictures of it but its in the video to Top Of The World, the one where they're all acting like space-ma-nauts!!!!!

We're opening for the Unchained, currently the UKs only VH tribute in a couple of weeks. They only do the DLR stuff but I won't hold it against them!!!

Great live pics!!!!

thanks Phatdukk

It's best to ptint it out and sit on the couch to read.
Depending on how fast you read, it could be a few hours. Once you start. You won't want to stop. It would make great reality TV!!!

Phatdukk and Fogman - just read it -thanks that was eye opening, although it was just Sam's side of the story.

To tell the truth though I always thought Sam was a straight shooter so I would find his side more credible than the VH bros.

A few things I didn't know -Anthony is only a paid member? I always thought he got songwriting credit on the recordings, and VH only small time in Europe - who knew?

As for the new manager - maybe that explains Rush's downward spiral over the last 20 years.

Ya it's weird. I love Sammy. He's a straight arrow.
Even if only half were true, it's still something!

As many of you know by now I proudly own an EVH as well as a couple of Wolfgangs. I get a little surley when people arbitrarily bash the Wolf.

However, I will echo what was said on an earlier post. I never really heard a recorded tone that EVH put out on the Wolfgang that matched some of the awesome tones he got with his EBMM. I chalk that up on some level to the fact that he changes his tone from album to album so perhaps he would have dialed his EBMM similarly for VHIII had he still been playing it. None the less, I think Balance is perhaps the most kick ass example of the EBMM/EVH tone. I hear his tone on VHIII which could have been a real showcase for the Wolf and I just shrug. Parts of it are good but mostly it's just fuzzy. Like he's playing at bedroom practice levels.

The best tone I heard him record with his Wolf was Humans Being. That's pretty good tone but not quite what his EBMM tone was.

Hey, to anyone at EBMM, do any of you recall EVH wanting to modify his Signature guitar? I was thinking that might have been part of his beef. Just curious. Still can't believe he left this cool guitar company... Sorry to change the subject here...
