For what this guy wants for it, I don't think anyone is willing to pay.

His auction verbage leads me to beleive he wants $20-30k for it.

I bid on it . . . .

First, let me say that I am new to the board, but have been reading it for about a month. Seeing VH twice on their last tour got me back into the band and Eddie. But about the purple one on ebay . . . .

No doubt it is a lot of money, and the current bid is well over what used ones should be going for. But if you're a EBMM/EVH model fan like I am, you know that the tops on these have a tendency to be good, better, and great. This one is outstanding . . . enough to justify the price, that's up to you.

I have an amber one that I bought in '95 (I think), and I really like to top in it.

It's probably a classic ebay selling tactic. Put a stupid reserve on an item, have people shill bid on it in hopes than an inexperienced bidder will see the frenzy and be the winning bid. Not very honest and it screws with the market because all the other idiots see this and thinks that it has to be worth that too. I love ebay, but sometime I think society would be better off without it. Just my $.02 worth.
