At 9.2lbs its a bouncing baby Big Al. Had it delivered to Kindness' place since I was out of town. Finally got by to pick it up around 10 tonight. Feels great, plays great. Look forward to cranking it at practice on Sunday.

Thanks Pete!

I must say, I think the Orange Swirl guard was an inspired choice. It really works well. I'm also happy I went with maple. The neck has a bit O' birdseye and figure to it.

Maybe its just my Jehova's Witness looking attire, but I don't think this is exactly screaming metal here. (If I look a little rough, its because I was in the humid hell known as Florida today and then spent a long time in an airplane. Normally I'm quite pretty :D)

Yeah, I started to second guess my colour choice as soon as I ordered. I kept on thinking how much one in a bright colour would rock. Usually my instincts with this type of thing are good, so I shouldn't have doubted myself. Plus Big Al #2 can always be in a bright finish ;)

Plus all the White ones GC bought have rosewood boards :p

Paul - anymore playing/feel/tone feedback? Big AL GAS is starting to hit me - as well as Dargie 2 GAS and Ebony Board GAS. Must know it is safe to take a trip out of Bongo-land.

I haven't actually been able to crank mine yet. However I have spent a couple hours with the ones at the GC by me.

There is definitely a lot of MM inherent in the tone. My favorite setting from my in store experiences were:
1. All buttons up, which places the middle and bridge pickup in series, either active or passive, kind of a variation of the single H Bongo tone.
2. Solo middle pickup in passive mode, pretty cool P tone
3. Bridge pickup in active with a little bass boost. The harmonics ring out so nicely, I'm sure I'll spend too much time doing my half assed Jaco impression (wait, that's too genorous, probably more like quarter assed).

A lot of cool options here, I don't think it is a totally shocking bass to anybody who likes Musicmans, but it does have some tonal options that you just can't get in the other basses.
