Notice the latest fad ??

The hot bands are playing with
trashed equipment
Actually the look is a well played guitar that is showing signs of wear.

A bunch of oeople are seeking ways to disstress their "Fenders" .

EB players have more class, but who cares about a "Squier"

These hot shots are not playing trash guitars, at all,
they still enjoy custom made axes, with paint jobs that give the gunney sack gig bag look. J B Goode specials

I can understand the desire to enulate your favorite rock star
But look beyond the advertized hype and think for a moment

A popular group enjoys playing music , just because it is fun, and they get paid
Who wants to ruin the enjoment with a guitar that sucks
Also jeopordizing the earning potential.

Just because they do wild things, does not mean they are stupid, it is all part of the show.
Go ahead custom paint your guitar,, just do it right , and don't even consider, burning it with cigs,
scratching it with impliments of destruction

Make the axe better , not worse
Otherwise Bruno will give you the same trearment you give your instrument.
Bruno likes to whittle.

Raisin hell cuz I can

Well, you know, the other side is that they do play live... A lot of "hot bands" play with trashed equipment because if you're touring, your equipment is getting trashed! The amount of abuse the road puts on gear is unbelievable - eight months touring will put ten years of wear on your main guitar, and your new amp will look like it's been dragged around behind a Hummer for a weekend... A good tech will keep the frets clean and the action perfect, but they can't repair the dings, scratches, whacks, bangs, divots and dents - hey, everyone knows **** happens, and when you've got a dozen people running around your guitars in an enclosed area, charging around like the White Rabbit toting armloads of equipment and cables, **** happens more! ;)

There's no denying that an instrument that has NATURAL wear has mojo, a story behind each scratch and ding. That's cool. Paying hundreds of dollars to have someone beat up and rust your brand new guitar? Idiotic.

Yeah true. More like thousands for those relic'd custom shop guitars, tho' I gotta say for like one year ESP did a relic'd strat as part of the Lynch line and that had to be the coolest one of all.
