That sucks buddy. Why not throw it up in the F/S thread with a price? You'll probably get a response from someone here.

You will definitely get a better price selling privately than you will at Guitar Center.

Selling to GC is like trying to return a car once you drive it off the lot. They will give you nothing for it. Well, at least not even close to what would be considered a fair price. They are just a huge corporation that happens to sell musical equipment. ever talk to the dopes that work there? Better off selling here or on Ebay.

Sorry, went off on a rant there. :)

Hey man, not suprised at the low price GC offered, they are notorious about that, the only way i have ever received the price I was looking for is to say well OK, thanks but I wont be buying that new guitar or amp. Then they seem to find a way to offer more.

That is a great looking Morse so you made the right choice not to give it up at a low ball price.

Shipping is easy, very easy to figure out cost with UPS and on your end just make sure you pack it properly, I have bought and sold many guitars with UPS as a shipper, you just insure the guitar for the sale value and charge the buyer the shipping plus what you want for the guitar, once it is sold if the buyer scratches it it is his problem and if he does not like it he can always sell it.
Just look in the for sale thread and on ebay to get an idea of what it can go for.:)

I let my Steve Morse go for a little less than that to a friend I met here on the forum. He bought it as a graduation gift for a relative. Saw it as a win-win-win. With them winning somewhat more than me. ;)

Good luck getting what you want for it.

Nice looking guitar. I guarantee you that you would get much more for that if you sell it yourself. If you don't like the ebay idea, you can try craigslist. It's totally free to use. I listed a '74 Rickenbacker a year ago and got 5 replies in about an hour. I sold the bass for about 25% more than what the store offered me for it. (I still think I should have got more though).

Good luck bro.

As BP just said no retailer is going to ask for the street value on the guitar. They also need to make a buck as well and consider their overhead costs including sales commissions and tying up operating cash/capital. It make little sense for them to buy at street and resell it for the same or even less, or have it sitting in their inventory collecting dust because they have to mark it higher than street price.

Nice axe though.

Look, I placed an ad here requesting looking for a Steve Morse and a reply came within hours of one in the US that I now have. The people here will either want it or know someone who does. If you haven't put a thread up in that section do so now!
