Well, if it makes him happy to have the fastest right hand, it's ok.
People have all kinds of bizarre hobbies, so why wouldn't he do this?
Music is definitely not about speed, but he wasn't even saying that he's a great musician. He just said that he's got an extra fast picking hand and that's true.

Truthfully, it is not something musical.....and he did not do anything other than pick the top string....

But, that was incredibly fast. It reminds me of the fastest drummer contests...some of those cats can't play a beat....but, they can double bass kick fast as lightning....
