Tina Weymouth because I watched her actually learn to play bass over the years.

Or Gail Ann Dorsey because she plays a Bongo and a Stingray.

Oh, my. Is it really that hard to get that joke? haha

My favorite female bass player is Gail Ann Dorsey as well. She's very interesting.

Has to be Meshell Ndegeocello. She's 5 foot and apparently can't reach the headstock tuners, but what a great player and songwriter.

As for Gail Ann Dorsey; nice player, but maybe a little limited in some ways; anyone noticed she is put on rhythm guitar duty when Bowie performs 'Ashes To Ashes' - the one song you would really want to play, as a bassist in the band.

It has got to be the queen of bass... Ms. Carol Kaye!!! - She gives the term badass new meaning. Without her bass would still be back in the stone ages (for both male and female players) - LOOKS BE DAMNED - SHE CAN REALLY PLAY!:D
