I can get all the sounds out of that combination, together with a G-major


and that Boogie Above is just SCHWEET!

EASY

From the board into JMP-1, controlled by axess midi pedal.
G Major is in the loop of the JMP-1, just for delay and reverb.

JMP-1 goes into the Palmer and then into the desk.

I hated the compensated outs on the JMP-1 to the desk so I bought the Palmer and now I use the JMP-1's regular outs into it.
The Palmer makes all the difference in the live tone.. expensive but indespensible.

Ignore the Fishman acoustic pedal, that goes direct to the desk, I run an A/B system to make everything compact.

The Shure wireless is for my vocal, got electrocuted once, so now I play safe ! The little silver REVERB pedal is bypass for my vocal reverb. I'm a solo singer / guitarist !!!!!!!!!

Signal path is .... Silhouette special into Keeley A/B,
Red = amp
Blue = Tuner

Red.... Skrydstrup buffer ( under strobostomp ).. Clyde deluxe ( I use my left foot to wah ) .. Compulator.. Boost ( Now using Keeley TS 808 ) .. Chorus.. JMP-1

It's actually a much simpler set up than most people use with amps and I guarantee covers a lot more tonal ground.

Not only does it sound better, it looks infinitely more imposing. Man, even my 2x12 cab is bigger than their 4x12s!

Line 6 HD147 300watt head into either 1 or 2 Marshall JCM900 4x12's depending on size of venue.
my bands: Vantage Point which is pretty much old school NWOBHM influenced (Maiden, Priest, and some newer stuff - Anthrax, Helloween, etc)
Irn Madein which is obviously an Iron Maiden tribute band (i play all the Dave Murray parts)
and Junior Priest which is a Judas Priest tribute (and i pretty much play all the harder lead parts, with Del our other guitarist playing the easier leads lol)
the Line 6 is perfect as it'll do pretty much anything i need it to, and for anyone put off them by people saying they don't cut it live... that's nonsense. The people who say that are inevitably the folk who haven't spent the time to sit down and play with it and use the pre-set tones as a starting point to coming up with their own tones. They're the people who go hey it's got a Boogie Dual Rectifier, or Soldano SLO100 pre-set which they expect to sound exactly like the real thing (which is never gonna happen, a digital amp is never going to sound like a real Soldano, Bogner, Boogie, etc...)
It's great for me though, as it's loud, and has all the effects i'll ever need in there already, and does a good job of getting some pretty authentic Maiden and Priest tones, as well as my own sounds

When I was gigging, I went through the following amps:

Peavey Ultra and 4x12 Crate cab with V-30s

Marshall JCM 900 combo

Peavey Classic 30 combo

Peavey 5150 combo w/V-30s

Mesa F-50 combo

Mesa Nomad combo

Vox Valvetronix

Line 6 Flextone 2 combo with extension cab

Budda Superdrive 18 combo

Out of all of the amps, my top choice for tone, versitility, and ease of use is the Budda Superdrive 18 by a country mile. It is a transparent amp that has great response and killer tone. You actually get to hear the tone of the guitar as opposed to the tone of the amp. The only drawback is you can't hide behind the gain of the amp, meaning you can't be a sloppy player with this amp, because you will hear everything. Don't get me wrong, you can get every bit as much gain out of this amp as you can from a 5150, but it's usable gain. It also cleans up very nicely. The clean tone is more akin to a Vox clean, rather than a Fender clean, but it is very nice.

A close second is the Mesa Nomad. It has basically the same transparancy as the Budda, but the tone of the Budda is superior IMO. The Mesa also has alot of knobs on the front. It enables a great deal of control over your tone, but I just like the control section to be a little less cluttered.

If I could only have one amp for the rest of my life though, it would be a Bogner Extacy. It has alot of knobs and switches too, but the thing just sounds so good and is so versitile, you could use it for anything. The drawback to that amp is that I would have to pay more for it than I did for the last car I bought.

BTW.............Our band played Classic Rock. Everything from AC/DC to Heart to ZZ Top. We also played newer 90s stuff like Toadies and The Donnas.

As far as I know it was called the Duoverb in the US. Its a long discontinued old model that was a poor seller.

Peavey 6505, I just love the hell out of the way it sounds, and it's as durable as the Incredible Hulk. I remember an old Steve Morse interview where he said he started off a Deep Purple tour with a combo of Marshalls and 5150s, and by the end he was just using 5150s because the Marshalls died, and the Peaveys kept ticking.

It gets pigeonholed as a metal amp these days, but I use it for hot rod 70s-80s style rock up through heavier stuff. Truly one of the most over rated (for metal)amps to ever be under rated (for everything else)!

The Valvetronix I had sounded great. I was really happy with it, and in my basement, I think it came the closest to mimicking the actual amps it was intended to than any other modeling amp I've played.

The problem was, as it has been for me with all of the solid state amps I've played, that the amp just didn't "cut through the mix" live. I'm not really sure what it is, but I've always been happier with my sound when using a tube amp.
