I believe I've been share some stories about how the 1st time I heard Lucious music.. It was back then at my junior high school days, I listened to a radio and suddenly I felt in love with his music and playing, it was 'Twist The Knife' .

I lived in very small city called SOLO (how cool is that :D) it's in central java Indonesia, and unfortunately I couldn't find any stores that sell the cassette (no CD at that time :D) . but i was so lucky cause my brother found out about the radio station that aired that tune, so I went there with my strange bike and try to contact the DJ who played it..and it was such a bless when he handed me a copy of that album ,sorry luke..I didn't know what is copyright and honestly no pirating intention at that time :( I just a kid, a very desperated one. sooo that's how I got in touch with Lucious music, through his solo album and ended being Toto loyal fan till now :D. (of course right now i have his all legal CDs, no kidding :D)

Ok, so far I always love 'The Gypsy Train' , ' Dave gones skiing' ,'Party in Simon Pants' and 'The Real Truth'.. well somehow I always come back to listen to those songs :) .. Lucious Rulez!

Hmm...Toto IV, Fahrenheit, and The Seventh One, I suppose, with Toto IV probably being my favorite. This is a hard question!

I think I favor the older sounds (up to c. 1988) over the newer stuff although I like how his more modern sounds are less "processed" and more organic than his mid- to late-80s sound. I don't mean this to be a dig at the Luke guitar since that's what he's been playing for over 10 years now, and that's what he did not play back in the old days. Maybe the change in tone has more to do with his rig? (OK, now I feel like I'm dissing whomever currently does his rig. I'd better stop now before my foot goes any further down my throat.)

I think Wonder Dog mentioned Rosanna, and that one may very well have my favorite Luke tone although I can still close my eyes and picture the very day and moment back in the late 70s when I first heard the opening riff of "I'll Supply the Love" and how I just loved that guitar sound!

Sidetrack: I was playing that riff a few months ago, and my 2-year-old came literally running down the hall from the living room right up to my bedroom to hear me, yelling "Toto! Toto!". I'm brainwashing kids from an early age to be fans. :D

many thanks

Hello my friends,
First off I would like to thank all of you for the kind well wishes on our new baby Lily and I really appreciate all your support about the music as well.
Its been awesome and life changing in the past 4 days. haha We are home, happy healthy and getting used to having a baby in the house again. Its been 20 years! Its all coming back to me now and I am lovin it. It sure puts things in perspective. Nothing is like love and family and a little baby is so intense and wonderful. She is gorgeous like her Mom ( thank God haha) and I am truly groovin but its been hell on my chops as I just picked up my guitar for the first time in a week. I figure I should play a little as we are all gonna be hangin and playin next weekend. I know I gotta play with some heavy hitters. haha

To respond to this post, which is VERY kind thank you..
Yeah , guitar sounds changed thru the years. Used to just plug in and let the engineers put efx on. The mid 80's WAS a time when processing became "the thing" as it was new and then it became OVER used. Producers I worked with actually REQUESTED that sound. It was cool for a minute but got cheesed out and somehow *I* got blamed for it. I did NOT start it but because I was fairly visable and played on a bunch of hit records it became " the luke sound" which is NOT my sound really and I resented getting blamed for it but Guilty as charged as I went for it for a few yars but as time has gone on I am back to a much purer sound. I like a little delay here and there and a few bits put in the right places but efx are like choclate cake. I like it but not for every meal! I know you guys know what I mean. Finding your "sound" is a lifelong quest. Sometimes you hit it, or get close otherwise we are ALL trying to get 'the ultimate sound" and honestly it comes down to the fingers-heart and soul and what you actually PLAY that makes "your sound". I am still on the never ending quest with amps and outboard gear but I have found sheer happiness and love for my Music man guitars !! Now I just gotta learn how to play the f*cking things! haha

I look forward to hangin with some of you guys next weekend. It will be a little vaction from baby and family, albiet 2 days but I am quite sure with Biff at the helm a great time will be had by all.
Sorry the band had to cancel but Simon is getting better. He needs to rest for our South American dates in Nov but thanks for the well wishes for him as well.
You guys are really cool and it means alot to get some love from you cats as I am sure you all are great players and I am looking forward to hearing YOU guys. I need to steal some new stuff. haha
Have a great day
Lucious

If Aunty's posting, that must mean that Shawn and baby are sleeping!

I know that because if it were me, and I were online while wife and newborn were up, I'd be toast! :D

Wow....the man himself on the forum!
I've been a huge fan since I saw your instructional video many years ago...I HATE that I won't be at the big bash in the desert next weekend.

Congrats with the new addition....Good luck with everything!
You rock!
