How's everyone doing? Good! I'm feeling a little nostalgic today after playing, so I figured it was time for walk down memory lane.

I used to hang out and post a lot on petrucciforums.com between 2003 and 2007. It was there I met many great musicians and learned a lot about music and gear. I bought my first EB guitar in 2003 moving up from Ibanez, and I went through a gas phase buying and trading EB guitars between 2003-2006 until finally settling on my main guitar which I am still using today almost 20 years later.

My main guitar is a 2002 Black Sparkle Standard 6 with a matching headstock. I bought it used on eBay for $800 - sounds crazy nowadays - from the original owner. I've never felt the need to change anything about it, and it's still using the original pickups and hardware. I managed to put one small ding in the body that was easily concealed with black sparkle nail polish. It still plays and stays in tune perfectly despite having not set it up in years. Action is still 2/32. I still use Ernie Ball Slinky 10-46. I figured at some point I'll come across another guitar that will replace it, but so far I haven't.

During this time EB didn't spray any new sparkle guitars. I recall the issue EB cited was the sparkle paint would clog their spray gun. In any case, the sparkle guitars were rare finds at the time. Years later EB started spraying sparkle finishes again, but these original sparkle models are still incredibly difficult to find. There were some collectors who had bought up most of them back then like Ernie1966 which you can see by taking a peek at my Vintage EBJPM Gallery.

Here are EB guitars I owned before settling on my main. I tried many different guitars during this time including strats, teles, and other types from notable builders like Suhr, Anderson, etc., but it was an EBJPM that I stuck with.
I posted a lot on the Petrucci forum. It's nuts how many of today's players "got their start" on that forum, Rick Graham coming to mind first and foremost.

As for feeling nostalgic, you can still find some of the very guitars you listed, and *sometimes* for decent prices.

Regarding Ernie, he's sold a lot of his stuff, but will never part with the Sparkles. He still has quite a bit left though.

Anywho, welcome back!
Edit: That's YOUR gallery? I've referred to it many times over the years. Can't thank you enough.
I had a early blue dawn JP6 purchased on eBay, but the buyer made up some crazy story about getting in an accident on the way to ship. I never got it sadly.

I remember you Pete and your music shop. Hope all is well! I have a pic of the custom "molten gemstone" JP6 in the gallery I posted. Cheers!

Glad the bench made it! I used the best photos I could find - at the time - for each guitar in the gallery, and I recall not finding many photos of Buttercream, so thanks for posting those so long ago. <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile :)" data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" />
