I'm someone who incessantly buys and returns guitars, never really happy with the guitar. I must have bought and sold 50+ guitars in 20 years of playing. The only electric I have left is a 2000 strat that my wife got me for our engagement.

I was looking for a dual humbucker guitar that I could do some heavy blues and or VH type stuff on and tried a bunch of Ibanez, MM Axis, US HSS Strats, and even had a PRS McCarty which I loved but didn't 100% click with.

Never considered the JP because I'm not really a shredder and always associated JP with shredding. Finally decided to order a JP (base model no Piezo) from MF the other day because they had a secret 20% with the thought that I would probably return it because it wouldn't suit my style. I have to say this is probably one of the top 3 guitars I have ever played. It was exactly what I was looking for. The tremolo on this thing is unreal. My 3 year old went to town on it and it still stayed in tune. Definitely a keeper!

Quick question - do I have to do anything special to maintain the unfinished neck? I usually just put some lemon oil on rosewood fingerboards to keep them from drying out.

.

I found the same ... I play in a function band covering several genres of music and I have found it to be one of the most versatile guitars I have ever owned and one which is capable of covering all bases. I can't shred, and have no desire too but this guitar is certainly not a 'One trick pony'

Congrats on finding your guitar!

The same thing happened to me. I wanted to get a new guitar and thought about checking out the JP6 which wasn't easy to find. I first picked up the Mystic Dream finish with the shield inlays, but after I got it home I was using the trem and it fell off it's post and it was the only one they had. I called the store and the sales guy I got it from said bring it back, I think you just lucked out. That's how I wound up with the 2007 LE Blue Dawn. One of the greatest guitars I've ever played!

The thing that needs to be said is that JP is NOT just a shredder. It's a bad stigma, it seems.

Great that you found "the one"!

Word!

I've been playing for about 30 years, and in that time I've bought and sold hundreds of guitars looking for "the one." Granted, as my style and level of ability has changed, so have my needs.

Bottom line, the BFR JP6 is definitely "the" perfect guitar for me at this point in my life. I feel like there is nothing it can't do, nor a tone it can't achieve.
