Walked into GC today (the one that used to never have EBMM six-stringers) to find five on the wall. Two were the same BFR Axis and Silo I saw last time I was there, the other three were all rosewood necks -- a JP, a Luke and an ASS. I played the ASS for about 15-20 minutes, the Axis being my guitar of choice, and decided that I'm going to need some more time with the rosewood neck to make up my mind.

Like all EBMMs that I've played, I really liked it, but it's a completely different feel from my maple neck. I didn't bond with it right away the way I did the maple neck Axis, but I'm willing to give it some time. ;)

I'm on vacation this week, may find my way up there again without a four-year-old running around threatening to knock over everything in the store to give it another go. Might also try the Luke, since that's one of the EBMMs I've never played.

One thing that I noticed was the neck seemed a little chunkier than my Axis neck. Is there a slightly different profile for the rosewood necks or was it just a combination of the different feel and my imagination?

The RW neck is the best. Seriously.

It DOES get some taking used to, but man, the slight roundness and warmness it adds to a bucker guitar is sublime.

I have a standard JP6, but it does NOT sound exactly the same as the maple neck.

The neck on my rosewood Super Sport is chunky and fills my hand nicely. What color was the RW Luke?

The Luke was cabernet pearl, the JP was pearl redburst and the ASS was tobacco burst.

the shape is exactly the same

also with rosewood they liked to be played...some of these in gc may need a little wonder wipe fretboard conditioner all over the neck

I suspected that it was just the different feel of the neck that was throwing me off a little. This was my first ever encounter with a full rosewood neck of any sort. I did like the feel of it in my hand, very smooth, and I'm sure with enough time on it, I'd come around. :D

jamminjim, the GC in question is in Jackson, MS.

Hey, u talkin to me? NY
I just purchased a BFR Rosewood Neck Tobacco Burst ASS from my local GC here in LI NY and I love it! The guitar plays and sounds amazing and the rosewood neck with the tobacco burst maple top is like a match made in heaven. This is my third EBMM with a rosewood neck (my first BFR) and these necks are truly amazing. I will take some pics of the guitar and post them shortly. I'm slowly creating my EBMM guitars photo album on this site and will post all of my guitar pics soon...

Thanks Stratty, I had the two Rosewood Axis' for a little while now and didn't get a chance to take some pics (it's hard with a 2 year old...) but, the BFR (my new favorite!) I scored last week from my local GC.

Thanks! I had to sell my Suhr Standard at a huge loss to get it but, it was well worth it. It's like a work of art that you can actually play and enjoy...
