Well new to me anyway. Since I picked up my first Stingray I always wanted one. I finally bought a Stingray 5 fretless in 2006. Though I always wanted to get a fretted Musicman for more of that kind of punch.
Well I was confronted with a really good deal on a Sterling.
Also in a discontinued finsish!

It needs a little cleaning and adjusting but I couldn't be happier.
Now comes the question. Will I be able to swing a third bass this year?
Still want a white classic.

I got it for $600. Unfortunately a previous owner monkeyed with the bridge so the outside saddles are on the inside. Not sure why? But when I set it up correctly the little height adjust posts were sticking into my palm! That is the one on the E and the G are sticking out but the A and D are flush.
I am not looking forward to un-f***ing the bridge since I just got it set up! But heck, right is right.
I Just jammed with the band tonight and it sounds great. Simply works perfect with a Boogie Bass 400 and my Boogie and SWR cabs.

Beautiful bass and color! :)

Perfect match with maple FB, it could look better just with matching head stock, but in second hand shopping you can't influence to that!

Nice the bridge was probably the work of someone who got an online diagnosis.

or was dual diagnosed!?

It's like we say down south, somebody rednecked it. They had to take a perfectly functional piece of gear and mess with it for no other reason than that it has screws and they have screwdrivers.
The only logic I can see is that they read somewhere about the old pre-flea bridge and followed the practice of flipping some of the string bridges around? Except that doesnt work that way with these.

I have also decided to do the neck treatment when I get paid this friday. It's looking pretty dry and kinda dirty. So I am gonna get some fine sand paper, some new strings, oilsoap and the gunstock wax and oil. then I am gonna make a day out of getting the neck nice and re-building the bridge correctly!
It already plays great though. So I cant wait to get it 100% there.

Gotta say its funny going from a 5 string Stingray with a finished neck to a 4 string Sterling with the unfinished neck. It's almost half as wide at the nut!

Oh yeah, got the DOB yesterday. 3-28-03. Which makes it almost exactly 10 years younger than my 5 string.
