Hi Everyone,
I'm new here and just wanted to check in.
Years ago I played a 5-string but it just didn't fit the style of music I was playing then. After many frustrations with a floppy B-string and the lack of any decent replacement pickups [this was over 20 years ago] I threw in the towel. Even so, I never lost interest in eventually trying another 5-string someday. At the top of my short list was always a MusicMan. With a new project that's perfect for a 5'er and the stoopid cheap prices in the S.U.B. Ray 5 I had no excuse not to jump in and try one again.
I know, it's not the über version that MM has to offer but after being "once bitten" I didn't want to go and jump in the deep end so quickly. I do have to say though, this is one seriously cool sounding bass. It's pretty much everything I need for the time being. I figure if this project were to take off [like I was actually earning $ from it] then I'll really get serious but, for the time being, it fits my needs perfectly.
