Question Find date on my Fretless Stingray

Hi,

I'd like to date my Fretless Musicman Stingray, the bridge says 28418 - is that 2 for the fact that its a bass and 84 for 1984 and 18 because its fretless?

I don't think the numbers are coded like that, they're just sequential per model.
