Finish vs Body wood

MM Sterlings for the most part have alder bodies. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

What about translucent finishes? Are they Ash instead?

It's my understanding that the transluscent finishes are put on ash bodies. My Sterling is trans teal and is made of ash.

I will guess that they also do solid colors on less pleasing ash bodies.
