Alright, first things first... hi everyone!

Now, I have an early 90s Stingray 4 and a recent SR5. The SR4 has a rosewood fingerboard and a very glossy birdseye maple neck. The SR5 is all maple and seems basically unfinished. I have the chance the grab a 1999 SR5 all maple at a good price, but it will be sight unseen. So, then, when did EB stop putting high gloss finishes on their necks? Will the 1999 SR5 have an unfinished or a high gloss neck?

Thanks,

--Pete

Wasn't it 96 that they stopped putting finishes on?

Frankly I prefer an unfinished neck. Where I live it's very dry and although there are changes in humidity as the seasons change, it's ussually very slow change and not erratic. meaning when my neck needs to be adjusted I can adjust it and not have to worry about it for several months.

Many people finish their necks with gunstock oil and/or wax, but it's really up to you.
