Anthony's thread "How You Got Here?" got me
thinking about my very 1st bass and thought it
would be cool to see how many of you had a
pic of your very 1st. This is the only one I have and
I think it's from 1979!! I had a Hondo II P-Bass
(the cherryburst LP is also a Hondo II)
Also pictured is my 1st EBMM, '95 SR4 HB
(the drummer in the 1st pic now plays for The
New Riders of the Purple Sage, and he fronted StirFried)

Sorry, don't have any pic's from the first year or first bass (1979; P-Bass copy).

This was taken in '82 with my third bass...another P-Bass copy.

Damn starving musicians!

I have no pics of it but it was a black Ax bass that my dad got me mail order. Came in a great clear plastic gig bag, and given I was only nine at the tie it was mahousive!!!

Summer 1964. Just left school. The only surviving picture, in fact the only picture, of The Elite Clique.

Framus Star Bass, short scale. Cost £40 (about $70).
By comparison Fender Precision was £80 ($140).
Average weekly wage was £10 (about $17.50).

This was and still is my first bass - a Shine Bass (I know, I hadn't heard of them either, but apparently they make basses for other certain well known companies...) that I bought from eBay from a chap in Grimsby who we now get on quite well with :)

Not a MM by any means, but it does the job!

Ding, ding, ding, ding. You're the winner!

That was a Minyard's Grocery store. They had us come in because they were having some sort of western days promotion going on.

This is the oldest pic that I have scanned. Summer 1993, new to the bass(played guitar first)and still in my Hendrix worship phase- Taken at a frat party in the ghettos of Long Beach,CA

Taken at the Heritage Brewing Company- Dana Point, CA in early 1995. I was playing Ibanez that I borrowed from my friend cause I had sold my Ibanez to buy an Ampeg cab and put a deposit on a MIM P-Bass. A young non-tattooed T. Barker is on the drums.........

This is a pic later that year w/ the Ampeg cab(but same Peavey Mark IV head) and the above mentioned P- Bass......Taken a t a backyard skate contest in Fontucky,CA

2002- Tone nirvana finally reached with my first EBMM bass....Taken on the roof of the Galleria in Glendale,CA

This wasn't my first bass, but was the first bass I bought brand new (1983). Ibanez RB924. I bleeb Lord Bongo owned one of these in a previous life also. The band was sponsored by a surf shop, so we got kitted out in ugly pants for free. Rig is a Yamaha PB1 preamp into a Jands J600 power amp, with two EV-TL15 cabs. I could have used a decent feed in those days.
