I don't think I'd have known what you meant by "neck reset" in 1963. ;) I keep hankering after one for old times sake and then I play my MMs and think "Why?"

No never had a Vox, bass or amp. I used a Linear 30, 30-watt tube amp and a home-brewed copy of a Marshall 4x12. Our lead guitarist had a Vox AC50 with a T60 cab. Great sound.

Exactly, I have a beater Vox here now that I just bought a TV Jones Thundertron to put in it but I know my Bongo will eat it for lunch...just a tweek..

Not sure of the exact model, but it was a dark red Westone Spectrum. It cost £85 in 1989 or thereabouts and I was bitterly disappointed that it wasn't like playing a guitar with two less strings.

My first was a Hondo II, vintageburst/maple P-bass copy.
Here's me in 1980 w/the bass - the cherryburst LP in this
photo was also a Hondo II. Had a TNT black widow
equipped a bit later in life.

My very first bass was a Raven. It was horrid. My first REAL bass was a Peavey Patriot that I played on the road for about 8 years and literally wore out. But I have had this bass for a long long time ... it's a real fender, but the neck had seen better days when I got it. Has EMG's and it still sounds amazing. I track with it all the time. 74 Fender Jazz:

Here's Mine

Here is my first bass. I bought it new in 1983. Yahama BB300. This is Kelly covering for me while I wail on my sax. I don't let him play my MM [notice the pick] ... He is a guitar player by trade.

My first bass was a Vantage Bass in Red ( looks a bit pinkish now) I bought it second hand from a guy down the road who played in a really big cover band - still have it for prosperiety.

Mine was an Ibanez something or other, remarkably like a p-bass. Traded that in on an Ibanez SR405, which I still have.

My first bass was an Aria SB1000 in 1981.It was made in Japan and I loved it dearly. The neck and fretwork were exquisite, like a fine Samuari sword...anyway now I'm waxing too lyrical!
I don't have it anymore, the band split up after we got screwed on a publishing deal and I did'nt play bass again for nearly 10 years, I sold it to fund a Flamenco guitar. Whoever owns Aria now bought a re-issue of this bass out last year, I played one last summer in the Bass Cellar, Denmark street. It could'nt hold a candle to the originals. Here's a picture,...

Ignoring the 2 cheap rentals I had previous to it, I bought the bolt on, much cheaper version of the SB1000 (the model # escapes me) as my first bass. About the same time too (@ 81ish). My first amp was a Peavey TNT130 (bought at the same time) that a friend of mine still uses. It's a good amp!

Vantage Avenger. Got it new in 1984. It was transparent red with a single p style pickup. In my memory it wasn't a bad bass at all. Kinda wished it was still around. Of course it would likely just sit in the closet.
