Just a note on the Birchwood Casey stuff. When your applying this stuff make sure there good ventilation and dont breathe the fumes. Also when your done with the paper towels or cloth, Soak them in water and remove them from the house or garage or building. Dont smoke while your using this stuff, it's very flamable. When your done though the neck will look better than new. Good Luck

Thanks everyone :) I ordered Thomann's kit today. I took the strings off yesterday to relieve the neck a bit (though it was straight enough) and will first polish the frets before cleaning her up.

Quick question; what can I use to CLEAN (not treat) the neck? I tend to use masking tape on the fingerboard before doing any fret polishing, but I've always only done this on rosewood fingerboards. I'd like to tape the fingerboard (and use a fingerboard mask for the frets), polish the frets nicely, and then clean up the tape residues along with the neck itself before treating it.
Is the Tru oil advised by MM for the cleaning, or just part of the treating? I never use oil for cleaning, just for treating...

Aye, I'm getting both of these in the package I just ordered... :D

Now trying to figure out what's best to actually clean the neck between:

lemon oil
0000 steel wool
water

not much else available here in Lux... <_<

Neck or board?

Wonder Wipes are great on the board. For the back you could use lemon oil but in my opinion it removes too much of the oils in the neck. Murphy's is a better choice I think, followed by Casey's wax.

Hope this helps

And please don't get the idea that you can drink the lemon oil. It isn't for consumption and could seriously hurt you if you do

No worries, no lemon oil on my salads... I only had some available (quite a lot, I use to do a lot of my friends' guitars setups back in the days) and no other products so I went at it with some very light sanding, a good lemon oil cleaning, and the tru oil + casey wax for treating the wood.

I spent a bit more time with her today... first MusicMan, first guitar with P90s.

There's a clarity to the tone that I've never gotten before, even with my Bareknuckle pickups and HW1 Strat (still to this day the best sounding Strat I ever played, bar a single custom shop model).
I never onced missed having a humbucker. Even playing some Lamb of God was extremely satisfying. And of course, no buzz.

Playability is incredible, even with slightly worn out frets. The guitar just plays like no others. It's perfect for my hands and (lack of) style.

Finally the tone + volume controls are perfectly interactive and their feel is perfect.

I don't know what else to say. I knew a MM was a special instrument, but this much, I wasn't expecting it. There will be more I think, probably bought brand new if I ever can find a store in Europe with some. But that one baby here is a cut above all my other guitars...:
