All this talk about how great these "Bongos" are has sparked some interest for me. They look so bizzare IMO..but in a cool kinda way I guess (too used to the SR/Fender conventional shape)..I would need to get used to that.

I will be trying some out in the near future,,that's fo sho.

If you're in LA there're plenty of Guitar Centers about to try them out. Hollywood, Northridge, Sherman Oaks

Flea-centric threads start with a disadvantage and can (and often do) fall into two categories:

1. "I love Flea!" Okay, and?
2. "I wish Flea were back with EBMM!" Okay....and?

I know some of you guys haven't been around for a long time, but do a search. There are lots of Flea threads, including his time as a Stingray/Sterling player and playing golf with BP and how the whole business deal went down the tubes.

I leave things open if I can even remotely justify it, but if it's just repetitive and then eventually contentious, there's just no point in letting it go on and on and on and on.

So yes, check what Mark said. Have you stopped to consider why it was shut down?

As I've said before, this is the official Ernie Ball MusicMan Forum. We do wander off-topic, to be sure, and there's nothing wrong with that; it adds to the fun. But let's not do the same argumentative subjects over and over again.

Ronny,

Do yourself a favor and check out a Bongo, I thought the same thing about the Bongo. Once I got it, there was no looking back. One of my favorite things about the Bongo is, once I position it for playing that is where it stays, unlike J-Bass or a Thunderbird where the bass will not sit still. They really are just an all around great bass...

Thanks everyone for the info.

I have been to the GC in Hollywood. Although we (the guitarist and I but our singer plays also) have only been in LA for a month our singer has been here 2 years so the first place I requested to go on my "welcome tour" was GC..(and Sam Ash).

Typically I only go to these stores to buy strings and small parts (they must love me lol) since I buy my instruments used....

My guitar player has been going there a few times a week messing around with new guitars so when I go with him I will try out basses that are on the floor to kill time..I just ask the salespeople to set me up with an amp and I try stuff...but they keep the MM's way up on the ceiling area so generally I am playing different Fenders..but ,was not in the market for a new bass. Next time there I will ask them to pull down some Bongos and other new MM's for me to try..perhaps I will buy new..big decision.

I will say the crew at the Hollywood GC are great..as soon as you walk in the door there are always at least 2 salespeople waiting to help you out..and since this is LA..they are most likely musicians as well and really seem to know their stuff. (Can't say the same about the Fort Lauderdale GC but haven't been there in a few years).
