I played my first gig Friday night since I got the 'Ray. It sounded awesome but I did find that I had to concentrate a little bit more. My left hand position didn't feel as natural as it does on my P-bass, but I'm sure that it will come over time. I just couldn't be as free as I'm used to being since I had to keep an eye on which fret position I was in. More pratice time will help, but it's just going to take getting on stage and getting comfortable with it. (Not to mention that our drummer was 45 minutes late because of the bad weather we had Friday night. That didn't create a very calming environment.)

Haha... I'm sure you'll get used to the StingRay feel... As for late drummers, the drummer for my church's praise team is very punctual when it comes to being late! :p

We held a wake for our drummer, "the late Eric Battison", after the show. I wanted to dig a hole and put him in it but they wouldn't let me. (I have since found out the weather delay was just part of the story.)

I don't want to enhance any current stereotype for "certain" people, but I just have to add that our drummer also has elaborate stories for his tardiness. Hehheh... :p

the best part is when your drummer is 45 minutes late for a show, and he calls your cell and says "hey, im stuck in renton (wa), can you come get me?" and we are all the way in everett (wa) which is many many miles away.

we were just in time, we bassically carried the drums right onto the stage...

You play a '79 P right? I play a '77:)

You'll get used to the SR, it didn't take me long at all.

Yeah, mine's a '79. My dad picked it up new in '81. He passed away in '85 and since I was the one that taught him to play, I was the one who it was handed down to. It's been my main bass since then. That is until I got the 'ray. I now have it tuned down a half step for a couple of cover tunes. I'm getting ready to audition for a 12 piece band (BS&T, Chicago, Boston, etc.) and I will be using my 'ray for a primary ax and my P when needed.

The Stingray feel will come, in time.

Played in Deep Ellum here in Dallas last Friday night. It felt much better and I didn't have near the problems that I had the previous Friday. One of the other bands that played was named Hap~Hazard (haphazardmusic.com). Check them out. They were really great.
