I've only had my ASS for a few days, but I wanted to send a quick report. First off, the action is fantastic. This is the best neck of any guitar I've owned and/or played. The overall craftsmanship is top notch.
I can get many sounds out of the five-way switch. I’m still trying to nail down the right settings on my amp with some of the switch positions, but the sound is very good. I tend to prefer the neck and center positions the most. I just need some time to play around with my amp settings.
Does this guitar ever go out of tune???? I played with some friends last night in our drummer’s basement. I had to make a minor tuning adjustment before we started playing and that was it. We played for a good 3 hours and the guitar stayed in perfect tune. That room started out a cool comfortable temperature and ended up a very hot and humid sauna. Three amps, a PA, and four guys in a small room---- it was like a locker room. My buddy had a Strat and had to tune several times. Had I been playing my archtop, I would have tuned up several times myself. How sweet is that?
When I first started playing the Axis standing up with a strap, I had a hard time finding a comfortable position. Last night I must have done something right because it was all fine and good. I think I need a new strap though. The position I preferred had my strap’s adjustment buckle right on my shoulder. Any ASS owners have a suggestion for a comfortable strap?
Needless to say, I’m very pleased. I love this guitar.
