had my first jam session with my JP6 yesterday :) it was my first jam session where i play the guitar in about 5 years too :)

anyways ... i think it was Koogie that posted in an earlier thread about getting speeding tickets on the JP - damn, its true! it was sweet seeing the faces of people who know me as a bassist when i went for a blazing solo. they had this whole "woah, when'd you learn to do that" kinda look ... and i returned a "its not me its the guitar" look :)

the guitar sounded sweet and i got may compliments - my favorite beeing "that finish looks evil" (my PJ is the peal redburst)

Yeah...the shred police will get ya if you ain't careful with that thing! Funny, I had my first bass lesson yesterday. My instructor is a Berklee grad (awesome player to boot) and he says....dude, you must play guitar. I was like, yeah, why? He said, quit doing sweeps on the bass....you have to slow down and get with the rhythym man.....hehehehe.....having fun bouncing between the two.

How about post some of those tunes PD! I'd love to hear it!

i would love to post tunes except for one thing ... i have no patience and dont have any good recording gear. I got a boss digital 8 track to record stuff on and i just hate the UI on those things. they kill me. stupid knob turny things and whatever. i spent $500+ on it and have never used it :(

but i did get a mac laptop yesterday and it came preloaded with their new Garage Band software ... im assuming that this software is pretty lightweight but am also anticipating that it will be easy to use (since apple wrote it). any one use Garage Band? ill mess with it and see how it goes ... if it works well, then ill have to wrap up a few song ideas and then lay 'em down. I hope it has a decent drum machine.

I've written some pretty cool stuff on garage band. The drums sound pretty dang good if you ask me. There's all kind of styles and you can adjust them pretty easily to fit what you need. If anything its a great to waste time on.

Yeah l know what you mean, l had my first band practise with my Petrucci the other week, l also quit the band the next day, maybe it was the guitar, but it made me sound better than ever. That's what was probably going thorugh my head. "I'm much better than these hacks, l'm quitting". Anyway, the Petrucci made me do it. hehe, l'm in another band now, so all is good, well much better now. :D

he he

i did the same thing with my other band ... but i was playing bass so Sterling made me do it.

i really have a huge respect for any band that cant keep it together for years n years. every band ive been in has had too much personality, talent, lack of responsibility or creative differences.

ok quick update for anyone interested in the M-Audio Fast Track. I got one yesterday and gave it a whirl with my new iBook + Garage Band. The latency was pretty bad (i could distinctly hear the strings on the guitar and then, after a delay, the same notes came thru from the laptop). I'm pretty sure that its due to the fact that the M Audio Fast Track runs off USB 1.x which is kinda slow. So i exchanged it for an M-Audio Firewire Solo. The latency on this one is supposed to be way better (1.5 ms). I'll update on how this unit works after i give it a test drive

Oh yeah, it's takes alot of searching to find the right group of guy/girls to put together a band, and keep it going for years.

But all it came down to was the bass player, he was sh!t, he had a bad attitude, he was lazy, he would turn up late, he would want to leave early, he would be out having dinner for about an 1 - 1 1/2 hours, and the rest of us would be ready after bout 1/2 hour, and he would learn the song, and the songs he did learn, he learn them wrong anyway.

Now that l read what l put up in my last band, l don't really know how the hell l put up with it, in the end we were all pissed off at him, none of us wanted to be there, so l left, and the drummer followed me, then the keyboard player. Now me and the drummer are putting another band together. I'm just glad l finally left my previous band.

Scott.
