Well I was so impressed with my Morse Y2D Hardtail that I sold another guitar and just ordered a used Morse (regular) with a matching headstock and hardtail. Color is either Ebony or Sapphire Black (the pics were kind of grainy, looks like the sapphire black, I'm happy either way :D). Pics when I get it and it has defrosted for an appropriate amount of time. Damn you winter!

One word. Shocked.

So...I was not pleasantly surprised when my new (used!) SM arrived today. The first shock was that the guitar was not accompanied by a case. I stupidly assumed that it would come with one (have to call the GC store when I buy used in the future). The second thing that shocked me was the shape this guitar is in. GC listed it as 5 stars, but by God, I don't see how. There are several dings in it, two in the headstock and a major one in the body, and it was covered in some sticky substance (eww!). The strings were also rusted to the point that they look like they might have been the original strings that EBMM put on it. All of the screws are also majorly tarnished (small thing, but annoying). The worst thing, by far, though was that the neck had a serious backbow (likely due to the shipping from the hot humid climate of Florida to the cold dry climate of northern Maine). I was deathly afraid that the neck was warped. However, after two hours of set-up and cleaning, I finally got to play it. And I'll be damned if it doesn't fit like a glove. LOVE this thing already! Just a testament that you can't judge a book by its cover!!!! And of course....PICS!

Boy, I was getting nervous there for a second while reading your update. What a bummer receiving such a beautiful guitar in such condition. Glad things worked out. The color is stunning and that neck is sick.

How did they ship it, just encased in bubble-wrap???

And my love of my new Y2D has me gassing for a regular Morse, as well. :)

Congrats -but I would still like to hear more details about the transaction. I hope the price was just too good to resist sending it back. Also 5 stars is their highest rating for used gear so the guitar should of been mint! I also would love to know how they shipped the guitar with no case.

All GC's are run by different management so this is no bash against GC on a whole. But this store has to be kidding me as I am certain you inquired about the condition 5 stars or not. I would still give them a call and ask for someone in charge, maybe you can get a store credit for a few bucks or at least a case!

The guitar was indeed shipped in bubble wrap. Like a fool, I did not call the store, I bought it from the online listing, and I assumed that the 5 stars rating was accurate (lesson learned!). I have brought in guitars with light pickguard scratches and no other flaws that they have given 4 stars, so needless to say I was very surprised. The price was reasonable I suppose ($1000 shipped), and I have a couple extra cases, so that doesn't really bother me. I was considering calling them today to let them know that this was not what I expected when dealing with Guitar Center (all of my other transactions there have been perfect!).

So I contacted the GC I ordered the guitar from, and they were very helpful. Apparently, they had the case for the guitar but someone made a mistake and didn't ship it (pretty big mistake if you ask me!), so they are shipping the case for the guitar out for me. They are also refunding me $100, since the guitar was incorrectly listed. GC rocks!

Nice grab! I'm wanting another Morse as well. I'm looking for an older Morse Blueburst.
It's just a fantastic playing guitar. Enjoy!
