Some of you may recognize me from another forum...well I did it! I broke down and bought a 2005 Limited Edition Butter Cream SR4 H...I had an '82 SR4 that I got in '86 that was one of my main players for years and lost it (along with a LOT of other stuff) in a fire not too long ago. I have considered on several occasions to find a replacement for my beloved (a well aged Natural finished SR4 H that I called "Blondie") since the fire but with no real action ;) Then I was perusing the For Sale section of TB and found this:

I HAD to make a leap of faith and get this bass! I hope it will be the perfect replacement for Blondie and will stay with me longer than Blondie did...My question to you guys in the know is how many maple boarded Butter Cream Limteds were actually made? It seems that the rosewoods were more popular since I started researching this bass the other day...In fact, I was a little concerned that the neck wasn't the original neck originally until I saw another one posted here (may be the same one who knows?) Anyway, any help would be appreciated and I look forward to many posts here discussing my accolades with this new bass!! I haven't really thought of a name for her yet so if you have a suggestion shoot it out there and lets see if it jives with her when I get her!

Many Thanks! I am very impressed so far with the community I see here and look forward to the times to come!

Peace,

T

Welcome to the forum. Have fun here.

The serial number will tell of if the bass has been altered or not.

Ask in the serial thread for birth date and configuration.

EB customer service is top notch and Dan gets right on posts in that thread.

Hey, Tom! Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about the fire, but it looks like you are on the road to recovery (bass-wise, at least).

How about 'scotchy' for a name? :D

Yeah, I recognize that bass...thought about it several weeks ago, and definitely would have if it had been a 2-band eq.
But welcome to the world of Buttercreams, it was one of the greatest colors made.

Not sure on the production breakdown, but I wonder how many total they did...400? 600? And the case just kills! If you do a search on Buttercream, there was a picture thread a couple months ago.

Thanks guys! I just got her and had a chance to play her a little...A W E S O M E! Is the only word to describe it! I feel like I found my old favorite pair of shoes in the back of the closet! Can't wait to use her on a few gigs I have coming up...I have a couple of engineering gigs over in VA Beach for a few days but I will give a full review probably next week...Stay tuned and thanks again for the kind words!

Peace,

T

What a great looking bass. Exactly how I like them matching headstock with maple board. Any flame or birdseye in that neck? I cannot tell from the current pictures. I bet it sounds great.

Best of luck with her!
