I have wanted a white Silo since I first saw Keith and Ronnie play them on the 1989 Steel Wheels tour. I was a HUGE Stones fan and was blown away by these new versatile guitars they were playing. The time was never right until just recently. I just bought a white 2010 HSH Silo with a black OEM guard. Figured Maple board. I have the original white guard but it has yellowed significantly. The pickups were replaced at some point with Duncan’s that I don’t like so I slapped in a set of Rumpelstiltskin that I had..,a Low wind PAF in the neck, a Miller 1954 Strat in the middle and an Archer HB sized single in the bridge (think Tele on steroids). The neck was grimy so I sanded and re-oiled it. Slick as glass now! Guitar has the lowest action of any guitar I have owned since 1978, and get this, it sustains forever. Just rings like a bell…and it is a featherweight. All perfect except I find the neck to be a tad skinny. I can fly on it but we’ll see how long it lasts as playing around the nut cramps my hand. I am determined to make this versatile rocker work. Just wanted to share.

Congrats. Just scored a Silo Special myself a couple of weeks ago and am having a blast with it. Welcome!

I’ll post pics tonight. Thanks for the warm welcome. I love oiled necks and can just fly on this one. I just started recording an album and will use this on a song or two for sure…maybe more.

If your hand is cramping when you play in the lower frets you might want to check that the nut slots are cut correctly. When I got my BFR Valentine, my hand was cramping in the first few positions and it turns out the nut slots were cut too high and the action was high in that part of the neck, causing tension and pain. Once I took it to a tech and got that diagnosed and fixed it's been playing like a dream. It may or may not be the issue but I'd heard all this stuff about the narrow nut causing some people to cramp up so when I got my guitar I figured my situation was normal and that my hand just didn't gel with the neck dimensions. Haha.

Thanks for that advice @Ted . The action is silly low with no buzzing from fret 1 to 24! I do have some arthritis in my left hand which doesn’t help but I played it tonight through a Lil Dawg WonderDawg and it sounded great. Extremely resonant for such a light guitar. Rings like a proverbial bell lol! I do need to sell the Blackface WonderDawg to fund a 6g3 Brown Deluxe ChocoDawg. Tweed and browns are more me than Blackface Fender.

@Sigmunds Couch ! You are most welcome! I was so disappointed that I didn’t bond with the neck cause the build was perfect and I put a trio of KILLER pickups in the guitar. I am so glad that you love it! Best hard tail Strat tones ever, plus the bucker tones! Enjoy and rock on. I used the f7nds to buy a Lil Dawg 6g3 ChocoDawg amp. Love it.
