Ok, so I just got my first stingray. It's a new ebmm classic. It has what I consider an issue. Overall it seems a nice instrument, so I'm trying to develop a repair strategy as opposed to sending it back. What's bothering me is that the strings are biased toward the treble edge of the fingerboard. Meaning the edge of the G is closer to the edge of the fingerboard than the edge of the E is to the bass side. Is this correct? In aggressive playing I have had the G slip off the edge. I'd like to center the strings on the fingerboard. This of course will require a new nut. My questions are:
1 The bridge seems to be held down with two fasteners. are by any chance the holes in the bridge oval, allowing for lateral adustment? What tool removes the bridge?
2 What size allen key adjusts the string height? No allen key was included.
3 What would be the wisdom of moving the bridge verses modifying the saddles? I'd like the string set to move about the thickness or 2+ credit cards toward the bass side. This is a brand new bass so I'm trying to avoid anything too invasive. thanks in advance.

hello and welcome to the forum :)

the usual drill in these cases are:
1. contact dealer and have them help you out
2. if that fails, contact distributor in your country
3. if youre in us, or that fails give eb customer service a call

most of us skip directly to step 3...

so give them a call! i keep hearing good things about them ;)

MrM

ps: forum rules also state: no picture, no bass ;);)

I had this problem on another bass before and I had a repair shop dowel and reset the bridge - problem solved. Can you post a good picture so we can see how the spacing is?

Thanks for the replies. I do not doubt that EB customer service is top notch, as I've heard nothing but positive comments. I am in Pa, USa. However I'm concerned that it might be gone for a painfully long time. I'll try to post a good pic, but it's probably the type of thing where you can make it look quite different with just slight changes to the camera angle.

My Classic also has the E further a little further from the edge of the fretboard than the G is. Not sure why - I presumed it's part of the design. However, I haven't noticed any issue with pulling the G off the fretboard, even playing pretty aggressively and using pop and slap style with pull offs on the G.

I don't doubt it's possible to do this (e.g. deliberately) but i just haven't had the issue in playing live or anywhere else - what sort of music are you playing?

Call Customer Service. They'll sort you out. Yes the bass will be gone for a few days but you'll be assured that the work will be done by the factory.
