I've never shared video of my playing with anyone. It's not much but I thought I'd share. I'm still learning the instrument as I've only been playing for about two years. Please excuse the poor audio quality I just used a built in microphone on my iMac.

For someone who only plays the instrument for 2 yrs i am very impressed!

Why thank you! That seriously makes me feel very good! I feel like there is so much to learn it's almost overwhelming but I'm determined to surpass Petrucci!

Yeah man it's seriously very nerve racking. Especially since I know I don't have the right gear for recording. Well actually, I do and I don't. I have a 27" iMac Specs:Quad Core i5 with 12 GB or RAM and I do have garage band and Logic Pro. I don't have an audio interface though and am still trying to get familiar with Logic. I'm pretty sure thats all I need now for a more "professional" sound right guys? Garageband is pretty easy to work with but I've not done enough recording to know what I'm doing. Sure I play around a bit but I seriously don't know whats going on half the time haha. I've got to buckle down and watch some tutorials on youtube or something because just sharing that little video and receiving what little feedback I have gotten is pretty thrilling. I'd say muster up the courage and just do it! It's pretty fun and doesn't take much time. I spent maybe 45 min to an hour on that video and most of that time was for rendering the video in HD.

All I can say is I'm very inspired right now to learn more and can't wait to see what I come up with a year from now!

Nice !
Do you play in a band ? Because it's the fastest way to learn a lot !

No I don't. I have started jamming with people. I've had two jam sessions so far with two different people. It was just kind of awkward and yet very exciting. It's hard trying to get used to someone else playing over your playing but you're right I have learned A LOT! I actually met someone on the forum here and her and I did a video lesson. I probably learned the most from her!

Thus, if you don't play with a drummer, practice with a drum machine or a metronome. A good timing and a good sense of rythm is much more important than finger dexterity (finger dexterity will come anyway because you practice every day).
But in any case, never forget that music is FUN !

Thanks for the advice! I'll have to look into that. Someone on the forum is actually making a backtrack for me!
Someone told me I should work on my vibrato but didn't elaborate. I think what he's talking about is when I do use vibrato I get background noise. I hope you guys know what I mean by background noise. IT DRIVES ME CRAZY! Any advice on how to correct this would be greatly appreciated.
